They didn't enjoy them much since WW I but a lot of militaries still use unarmored or only partially armored trucks to get troops to battle. The problem is when the battle comes to you and your still in the back of a lightly armored truck.

It’s a nice touch that the AT-M6 has cable-cutters on it’s legs, that one detail alone really conveys how the First Order has had to actually learn from the Empire’s mistakes, and actually makes it come across as believable redesign unlike a lot of the other First Order tech which just felt like an attempt to make it like the Empire but different. congrats to whichever concept artist put that detail in
@calebbarnhouse496

It's really not, tow cables killed one ATAT, just because we saw it in a movie doesn't mean it was commonplace, and even still the snow speeders needed cables because they weren't equipped with the weapons of a starfighter

@purpleowlanimation just because the legs are a weakness does not mean tripping them was the common reason. Tracks on tanks are a weakness because they can be blown up easily not because rocks and logs have been used in the past to destroy them (which is very rare, and can't be relied apon, like tripping a walker)

Before anyone starts complaining about how the Empire and First Order just make every new walker bigger than the last, let's just remember that the Fallen Order / Rebels AT-AT is bigger than the Empire Strikes Back AT-AT; the AT-ST is smaller than the AT-DT from Solo, and the older AT-DP; and while the Juggernaut Tank is half the size of the AT-M6, it's twice its length; and the AT-ACT and SPHA-T are a similar height to the AT-M6 as well.

People have measured the scale in the movies based on the humans near it. It's smaller. The idea that it's bigger is when you assume it's legs and body are the same chassis as the at-St and the only difference is the head (and then it's only slightly bigger)

@mitchellhayward6492
@mitchellhayward6492 4 жыл бұрын
@@jackrutledgegoembel5896 You'd be surprised how long military hardware tends to last, especially in the real world. By the 2040's, production of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers will end after it started being produced in the late 80's. That'll be over 50 years of production. And who knows how long after that it will be before they even get phased out? Back to Star Wars though; by the Clone Wars, the Republic was basically already the Empire - just not in name. So I feel like seeing AT-AT's and Imperial-class Star Destroyers as such in the Republic military is a nice bit of foreshadowing, so long as at the time they are considered state-of-the-art and brand new; and uncommon, but already slated for mass-production. And yeah, the Sequels are rightly criticized for its lack of new and creative vehicle concepts. But at the same time, technologically, it's not unrealistic that they still used AT-AT's and TIE Fighters after all these years. Although I totally believe that the Sequel Trilogy's undoing was its lack of creativity and new ideas.

Fun fact: many weapons in star wars are based off of weapons from WW1 and WW2,an good example being the A280 blaster the rebels used,it was based off of the WW2 era STG44,the first assault rifle used in war,and the clone blaster (I forgot the name of the weapon) was based off of a MG34 machine gun. I could go on all day but my fingers are tired of typing.

These are so scary in their own way, AT-STs always terrified me when I played Battlefield, just seeing how fast they were and hearing them getting closer and closer is scary.

I think that is the UA-TT. A shame we couldn’t have gotten a sequence where the resistance fights one. Everything in the sequels is a missed opportunity.
