He was the main writer on Batman when the franchise exploded, so he ended up having a hand on everything. I think he fared better on these than on the main series.

@@jojojotaru1167 Been a while since I read him, but what comes to mind is not particularly any tropes. He actually has great ideas as far as plot goes. It’s just that you can’t compare him to a Ed Brubaker, a Greg Rucka… his vocabulary, his writing style is much simpler and more direct. The premises are cool, but the execution is lacking. There’s nothing wrong with Knightfall, but the 90s were a period of exaggeration, of stretching stories into big, year-long mega events, so of course the story feels sluggish and quality suffers.
