-Before you drop that Kotal's Totems video like Hailey did the Talk Tuah podcast, let me say that the Earth portion of the totems' power is only limited to Kotal physically summoning them; the buffs that the totems give are where the compounds come into play (Shadow, Soul, any other compound that uses Earth, etc). Kotal seems like someone who would obsessively learn multiple areas of magic just to cover his bases, like Shao Kahn. -Antaeus was the figure in Greek Mythology who could draw strength from his bare feet touching the earth; Herakles eventually fatalitied him by picking him up and tearing him in half. -Unrelated: New 52 Noob's Shadow powers are just as meaningless as New 52 Scorpion's fire powers. He has them just because.

*Excellent* video! I love how it's mostly a Skarlet and Kotal video lmao. On that note, fascinating idea about Kotal using earth manipulation, as it fits in with blood. Never thought of that. I always just assumed that he could simply summon these magical objects from afar, like you see other kharacters doing with teleportation and such. It could still be that, but the totems do seem to pop right out of the ground, plus it makes Kotal and his people seem that much more... godly. Can't wait for the next vid, man. *Well done!* P.S: that joke about one of Shao's main elements being trash talk cracked me up! I think a video on taunts and trash talk could be fun. Thinking about how, in Deadly Alliance, some fighters could power up or taunt for little boost to damage or health. I'd also mention how throwing someone's mental game off can give you an edge in kombat, and that may be one reason why Shao Kahn employs it. Other than the mere fact that he can, and he's a based Alpha. 😂

I forgot to mention how his one Brutality in that Variation lets him explode someone's entire torso with an uppercut, which will never not feel satisfying to do. Also a bit more unique than other Brutals.

Honestly, Kotal's powers make sense, as he's probably just using blood to feed more power to the land and thus grant himself more strength or vitality through these totems. Also, I could be wrong, but his blood magic abilities are something he acquired on his own using a Kamidogu (which in the second timeline is a dagger for some reason), his culture simply has the tradition of drinking the blood of slain enemies.

6:25 I never heard any of those theories. Well except the "Flesh Pits experiment" one, but that was said in Meat's MKA Arcade Ending, so it doesn't really count as a fan-theory. The one theory I did hear however, is that Meat is Kotal's OG timeline counterpart. I think it was MK11 that established that Kotal was imprisoned in the Flesh Pits to be experimented on, only getting out when Shang Tsung died (though that story clashes with MKX comic, but whatever).The idea is that in OG timeline, Shang Tsung had more time with Kotal, and Meat is the result of that... Of course, this theory still makes Meat a Blood Magik user, so it fits right in with the rest.

Tried to count how many times you saidd blood in the video but when it got to 25 times in just 3 minutes, I knew I was gonna give up. Very funny description and video. Kotal in four videos now, with the totem one, 5. Also in mkx comics, cloudy weather affects them(the osh-tekk) in battle, I wouldn't have that, since the sun doesn't give them their strength it enchances it, so they are pretty formidable even without the sun, unless it's a pretty strong storm or an artificial one, like rain's which he might use to suck, the radiation reserve in their body(basically evaporate them). Nice male-female ninja symmetry, he discovers it again, beautiful, brilliant coincidences or are they ?

The next game should set up Ko'atal as the next Kahn. I can't recall is hes dead but does or matter? Shao Kahn siezes throne. Characters scatter and "team changes" occur. Baraka and Mileena align themselves with Lin Kuei, more so than already (Ninja suit Baraka? Yes please). The Black Dragon have a huge role, supplying Lin Kuei tech, and behind the scenes aiding Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, and [insert story reason for return here] Shinnok. Other changes: Reptile joins Shirai Ryu on Earthrealm, as does Black Dragon traitor Kabal. This works like the "multiverse" thing without dipping back into it. New variations on existing characters. Anyways, i envision Shinnok sacrificing Shao to bring back Onaga in this timeline, and it takes the combined strength of the Lin Kuei, the Shirai Ryu, the White Lotus society, Special Forces, and the Black Dragon to defeat him. Boom.

M1K portrayed him as an asshole from day 1, right down to the comically evil voice acting. People thought Scorpion got dissed by way of Hanzo not being in the game. No, Sub-Zero got dissed, by turning one of them into Scorpion and the other into a pathetic version of Noob Saibot. The franchise is officially Sub-Zero-less.

Actually, if you look back at that power system video, there's a quick shot of Hunter x Hunter in there, so I'm definitely aware of that system and consider it one of the best. Can't say that I actively thought of it while conceiving the power system, though. But HxH is one of the best, most underrated anime of our time, and its power system is one of the best in the business. Only thing confusing about it is the names - nen, ren, ten, en - it's hard to keep up with what all those mean, cause they sound so samey.

Man that Kotal explaination was something interesting and I agree hes a walking tragedy. Its interesting that he has access to Soul but doesnt use it. Perhaps he knows from people like Shang and Shao that being a Soul user can effect him in a negative way and so he keeps his people's ways and being balanced in all four elements. This couldve been his arc as ruler of outworld. One who bring balance between all the different factions to outworld. Bruh why nrs create a kharacter just to crap on him?

Well, to clarify, Kotal *kiinda* has access to all the building blocks of Soul, more or less, but that doesn't mean he's a Soul user. That requires its own practice and mastery that I don't see Kotal doing.
