Hi everyone! It has been pointed out to me that the title of the piece is somewhat incorrect. To reflect the collaboration between Sting and Bogdanovic, it is actually called "Every Breath You Take (Prelude)" by Sting-Bogdanovic and shouldn't be considered "just" an arrangement. Sorry, Dušan! 🎶

Nobody cares what it's titled anymore, ha , it's GREAT! Call it "I'll Be Watching You?!" perhaps ? Now Stephanie, you must work with Dusan and give Adriano a call, and talk about an arrangement to "Enhance the Variation on the Arrangement of an old standard by Willie Nelson. arrangement he did for me on "I Fall to Pieces with a Touch of Class.!" Try to take a moment to hear what he did with just the melody solo, as I wanted to get it out of that old Patsy Cline, "One four five" chord sequence the bands ( they used to hire back then just to give their buddies a job ?) Adriano did a great job of "magically-creating" or "adapting" his arranging "around, over, and in between" my acapella voice renditions of other oldies too; Fine with me if the lyrics are more distinguishable as well as "different" and some of the harmonies made the solo melody "sound" to even be a different song. WOULD YOU PLEASE LISTEN And let me know if I could pay you and Adriano to DUET on one of MY songs? My classical training began and ended with violin, and playing in a few symphony orchestras through the years, so Adrian has to keep correcting my spelling-but we are getting quite a few originals finished. I'm self-taught on guitar, and if you'd go look at "One Enchanted Evening, with Anne Murray" you'll see I don't "pick strings", except perhaps on a country-folk song, but pull up on them (the opposite of normal "strumming." just doing what I had to do to accompany myself. This is the melody Ana Marie Ceuca is singing in her Italian rendition . I found Adriano on SoundCloud two years ago, but when I accidentally discovered YOU, and your videos about a year later, after skipping through the many other female guitarists videos (Ha, including Charo?) I immediately felt that what you were doing, would be such a "complement to" what Adriano has been doing..I had the "distinct feeling" that you and he could make the "perfect duo?" When I mentioned your name and copy pasted your video , Adriano (suprisingly said!) Ah, I know her! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES, that out of the thousands of other female guitarists out there on You Tube, I'd selected YOU? I'd been accused of being psychic years ago, and became the connector of allot of people, but I thought THIS connection seemed somehow predestined ?? The song that comes to me AS a guitar duet; and not like the "duling banjos" btw, but sort of classical/blues , crossover, titled "What is this Thing Called Love?" Think Adriano calls those "fusions ?" not sure. Sincerely Would Love to Hear From You, My Dear! LyndaFayeSmusic@gmail.com

The opening phrase sounds like the prelude from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1.

I play the cello and guitar and am intrigued, so worked this out. For starters they’re both in the same key, Gmaj. The famous opening arpeggio in BCS#1 goes G, D, B, A, B, D, B, D and then progresses the pattern to other chords. EBYT starts with B, D, G, D, B, A, G, A and also progresses the pattern (more about that progression later). In those riffs, in the first three notes Bach jumps a fifth (G D), then a fifth plus a tone (D B). Sting jumps a third (B D), then a third plus a tone (D G); so yes, the third and the fifth are the two harmonic intervals that sound good to the human ear and in this sense the two songs are very similar, one just uses thirds and the other fifths. Because of this, the way the intervals are related, and the fact they use the same key, they end up using exactly the same four notes (A, B, D and G), just in a different order. The riffs then diverge, but looking at Sting’s riff, two notes later he ends the riff with A G A, which is of course the same sequence as Bach uses after his rising triad, just a tone lower; so really the divergence is just a flourish on Sting’s part, only to return to the Bach motif. Looking further forward to the chord progressions, Bach goes Gmaj (I), Cmaj (IV), Csus4 (Cmaj with a fourth, an F); whereas Sting goes Gmaj (I), Em (the relative minor, Emaj with a flattened 3rd, a G), then C (IV). So pretty similar there too.
