I dont think it is a sexism comment but the opposite pethaps. The guitar and lute have been male dominating instruments for the past 300 yrs or longer unlike the piano and the violin. Now its time for more female composers as well.

But the men that playing really well are under appreciated. Maybe the music and popularity is what the majority is into. Her style is playful but not romantic for sure. Consider the classical guitar is the most romantic instrument...…..Ahhh whatever!
@kainezillah4 жыл бұрын
@@benkim2016 Why is it "time" for female composers? Does this mean more men should play Piano and Violin as more women play Guitar? Certainly there is a new range of emotions imployed by having a female composer, but much like if they were a man, you would still get a new sound as everybody is different. What makes it high time for female composers, and is it more important what they bring to the table, or simply the fact that there should be more female composers, even if it makes little difference?

In the past 2 weeks I've been hearing over than 15 top classical guitarrists playing this Invierno (and others, Otono & Primavera) and none else plays Piazzolla like Stephanie, indeed! Piazzolla requires energy, passion, some violence and a honey swetness, sometimes all together along a single phrasing, free rithym, free dynamics and so on.... Missing to hear Verano Porteno with her!!! I'm absolutely sure that Sérgio Assad is very proud, rapt and joyful on hearing (and seeing) Stephanie playing his arrangements for guitar of these 4 Piazzolla's master pieces. She hit on the nail! In fact, on the strings! :)👏👏👏👏

Sometimes one hears a performance and is inspired to practice and sometimes one hears a performance and desires to burn the instrument and just forget trying to play...and very rarely one hears in a performance the very essence of the place and time which inspired the composer to speak about the way they felt about the time and place. Bravo.
