Does anyone know what the words he is saying at the following times? Tried my best to reproduce the words. 7:08 - "Oy veyesmere, I think it's a shanda na happa, he's acting like a grabayik mit a farbissina punim, and she's all oyskadodden eshtuga dorf. He's ibaboodle in the keppie, they should stop being khzirs and just tucchus off and tisch, fartik!" 16:13 - "Dusta liggun a zabel a zibbly, ah dikaufen dread!
@Selectrolux
@Selectrolux Жыл бұрын
He's speaking in old-fashioned Yiddish terms, most of which are only known to Jewish people who lived in the first half of the 20th century. A few words are decipherable to me-- "shanda" (shame), "farbissina" (angry), "punum" (face), "oyskedot" (gone flat/gone bad). "Ibberbuttle in the keppy" (crazy in the head), "tucchus" (ass/buttocks"), "fartig" (that's final). No one really knows exactly what he's saying but the implied meaning is that whatever it is, it's not good. 😛

This isn't that funny but I'll give Mike Myers this, when he plays a character he dedicates himself to that character. I'm on a mission to refresh my memory as to whether the 90s SNL cast was really the best era for SNL
@TreebeardsHome
@TreebeardsHome 3 жыл бұрын
Drew Gooden did a great video. He rewatched each season of SNL. He had a favorite period, but realized that he loved it because it was the time he got into it, so he had a strong nostalgia for it. Later he saw that each period had good & bad. I definitely had favorites, Eddie Murphy, Belushi & Aykroyd. My brother loved them & he’s watch everything they were in over & over. I watched what he watched & have great memories of that. Of course they are some of the most famous SNL alums, but there have been great alums since.
@coreykindle5892
@coreykindle5892 3 жыл бұрын
@@TreebeardsHome yes I saw that video Drew did awhile back and he's right, nostalgia plays a huge part in which cast you initially take a liking to. My original pick was the Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Chris Rock, David Spade,Mike Myers era. Over the years I started to realize that was the era that created the most movie stars during and especially after they left the show with Sandler being the most notable contender. When it came to the actual skits on the show, Sandler really wasn't as funny as I remember him being. Chris Rock didn't get enough air time and Farley carried the show because he was simply being exploited through his drug benge which was sad. It dawned on me that the best era honestly came to life with the arrival of Andy Samburg and what I call the Lonely Island era. Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig were also hilarious in this era. Not to forget the Break era: Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Cheri Oteri, Heratio Sanz. This era made it possible to break character and somehow enhance the humor of the skit. I'll still continue my mission. Maybe there's some skits I missed

_schpilkes_ is jewish for nervousness, anxiousness. What the italians call _agita._ the literal translation is 'needles' genechtagezeunk is made up, but it has a believable yiddish sound for long compound words in Deutsch. possibly derived from kludging together _k'necht_ and _gesund_ which would be something like 'servant health' but that's stretching.
