ABOUT BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" follows the exploits of hilarious Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his stoically ever-professional captain, Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), along with their diverse, lovable colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct. In this final season of the series, Jake and the squad must try to balance their personal lives and their professional lives over the course of a very difficult year.
Rounding out the ensemble is Sgt. Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumera), who has a passion for organization and a weakness for dork dancing; Lt. Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a mountain of a man whose most powerful muscle is his sweetheart; Jake's best friend and human puppy dog, Det. Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio); and the incredibly secretive, tough-as-nails Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz). Also part of the Nine-Nine are veteran officers Det. Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Det. Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker), whose only skill as police officers is their ability to make a passable pot of coffee.
Created by Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" won the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical (Samberg). Emmy winner Braugher earned four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Capt. Holt.

I love this show but at 14:05 they did one of those things that's annoying in a lot of cop and law shows where they say it's "circumstantial" evidence as if that is synonymous is weak. That can be some of the strongest evidence! DNA and fingerprints are circumstantial evidence! Even when it isn't forensic like those, as Jake so eloquently demonstrated, it can still be incredibly strong and convincing on its own.

Circumstantial evidence is not a clearly defined category of evidence. Anything that only supports a conjecture and not decisively imply an action be circumstantial. In the field of law enforcement, where each action you take and accusation you hold can lead to immense consequences for the subject, it is never wise to move ahead based on conjectures like Jake's. I think its annoying because those shows use these for increasing drama where you can tell its obvious that it's a valuable evidence but its not to them since they follow the very fair law enforcement conduct

@@vikrantsingh6580 Circumstantial is well defined as it contrasts with direct evidence. Most evidence is circumstantial and often it is your strongest evidence. Meanwhile direct evidence is often faulty (a senior citizen's eye witness testimony is "direct evidence"). If you rely only on direct evidence, you will struggle to prove nearly anything. Was the person drunk? Well sobriety tests are circumstantial. You need a blood test, at the time of the incident, for direct evidence on that manner. Any lawyer will tell you circumstantial evidence can be very strong, very compelling, and most shows are very selective about what is circumstantial (again DNA is circumstantial).
