Oh, btw, “the draize eye test” still happens, all the time. So like, next you’re looking at shampoo, body wash, soap, makeup, etc. look for the lil rabbit head on it! Legally, companies cannot put it on there if their products aren’t cruelty free. So any product that has it on there is cruelty free, meaning absolutely zero animal testing. It’s also not just rabbits.

i got into a psychology class and ended up learning about the Harlow Monkey experiment, but the Learned Helplessness experiment will always make me much more heartbroken. for anyone who doesnt know what that is, some dogs were basically electrocuted with different voltages and could (or in one circumstance couldnt) stop it by figuring out how. the ones who didnt have a way to stop it ended up being helpless, and when given a new opportunity or stop the shocks, they didnt try because they felt helpless.

Dogs were also subjected to the swim experiment, there is an old cartoon based on a book that shows different animal tests during the time of the black plague and/or testing of the plague. the movie is called "The Plague Dogs" one of the first scenes shows how one of the main characters, a labrador mix named Rowf, was repetitively drowned, resurrected, and put into the tank again. the setting is a laboratory in england, it is a fake story made to bring light on real situations and experiments. The other main character is named "Snitter" who had is brain experimented on. The movie is very cruel, but also very well made. If you are into stuff like "watership down" then I do recommend this movie as it was written and directed by the same people.

Thank you so much for making this video. A lot of animal testing is absolutely pointless cruelty and I fucking hate it. The forced swim test is especially disgusting.. I hate that mice and rats are seen as so expendable and yet these same scientists have proven they're intelligent empathetic little animals. Very social too

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong, yet Im pretty sure the hope expirament (forcing rats into water) was actually just to test if animals had hope they would save the rats when they where on the verge of drowning the rats would swim for longer since they had hope they would be saved...

You skipped the very important variable in the forced swim test - the ones that died in the water were the control group, but there was another group that received help by being pulled out of the water and then put back in; that triggered the hope response. There was a similar experiment showing learned hopelessness (sorry, I'm Polish and trying my best to translate in my head what I learned from my first year in psychology) where they would put a dog in a box with an elecrocuting floor. All the dog had to do to avoid being shocked was to jump over an obstacle to get to the regular floor, but the dog was so terrified and hurt it would just stay on the electrocuting part... Psychology had a dark history

What do you mean by that, exactly? If you're talking about wild animals, it's only in their instincts, because they see us as the animals like themselves and don't want to interact with us just like they don't want to interact with some other animals. If you're talking about cats/dogs etc, I assume they're streets who don't trust humans because they (probably) never knew what it was like to be with an owner in the first place, so they are wary. I'm genuinely asking, because I've seen this comment way too many times here already-
