I use the Sailor Pigment blue. Most of the time the lighter variant Sei-Boku. It is like a somewhere between blue and teal with blue black shading. Since I work in the wine trade and thus am often in a somewhat wet or spill prone environment and thus write only with with water resistant inks. Sei Boku with out a doubt is one of the nicest of those. nice shading, some sheen and my notes are not destroyed by water :)

My favorite blue-black is Blackstone Blue-Black. I'll be unhappy when that bottle is finished. This video helps give me some ideas of other blue-blacks when the bottle of Blackstone is empty. Thanks for a good video.

Blue-blacks are definitely my Spirit Inks. They just make me feel good using them. This Sailor Blue-Black recently became my favourite of the grey-leaning ones. It smells a little (of putty?) but I have got used to that now and forgiven it. The #1 spot was previously held by L' Artisan Pastellier (aka Califolio) Baikal. It's similar, but with a hint of lilac in it. Other pale blue-black inks that I tested include: pilot shin kai, kwz blue-black, scheaffer blue-black, lamy blue-black, sheaffer blue-black, sailor soubuku, rohrer & klinger salix, kaweco midnight blue, lamy benitotite, sailor shimoyo. For the black-leaning variety, amongst others, I've sampled diamine denim, diamine eclipse, aurora blue-black, diamine blue-black, diamine midnight. But the winner for me remains Beaufort Ink blue-black As a wildcard, there's a teal-leaning dark blue-black that I liked well enough to buy a full bottle of. Rohrer & Klinger Verdigris

Love Love Love Verdigris! I must try and track down the Beaufort.

My very first bottle of ink was Skrip blue-black. I'm pretty sentimental about blue-black inks, as a result.😁 Mainly because in the 1980s, when I got it, it was less common than basic black or blue, and I wanted to be different (not knowing that it was very popular less than 20 years before...) I may have to look into this. I'm starting to get away from permanence in my inks (I really don't think I will be writing anything for posterity 😁), so this is a definite consideration. Thanks for sharing this!

Think my favourite blue/black is Aurora but recently have been using Iroshizuku shin-kai; have a bottle of Diamine 1864 which I’ve not inked up yet but very keen to try this Sailor ink: thanks for the heads up!:)

I’ve always liked blue-blacks a lot. I realize I’ve too many blues already, and I need to get rid of some of them. But I love and will keep all the blue-black inks I presently own. This Sailor blue-black is just a solid, reliable and pretty appealing one for daily use. I have it in a box full of cartridges. And use it in one of my many Pro Gear pens. Very nice ink. Very recommended. I love both the Serenity Blue and the Oxford Blue. But the 1864 blue-black, while a top pick for anybody, leans too much to black for my tastes. Kaweco’s Midnight Blue and Montblanc’s Midnight blue are two that I particularly like. And there are a few others as well. I’m fortunate to have discovered a trio of Sailor inks that I now love and use a lot. For those looking for permanence in their black, blue and blue-black inks, I’d enthusiastically recommend Sailor’s Kiwa-Guro (black), Sei-boku (blue-black, leaning to blue), and Souboku (blue-black, leaning to black). They are all pigmented and solidly permanent. Easy to clean out of pens. No worries. And even have a satiny, shiny appearance on the page (particularly the black). They come in squarish 50ml bottles. Pricey (I bought them for $24 each) but totally worth it, in my opinion.

My first ink was Noodler's Air-Corp Blue-Black, but it is more of a green-black.

Yeah, it’s an odd ink in terms of colour. Nathan Tardiff always has a reason for that though.

Just ordered some sailor blue black but from their Shikiori line.

The Shikiori inks are so good. A little pricier than the standard line, but my word they are good inks

In all my years of using fountain pens and all the inks I’ve bought, I have never tried a blue-black. Maybe my next purchase.

I remember blue-black ink as being smelly, dirty, stuff that got all over my fingers, when first learning to use ink , with scratchy dip pens, at school. Then, our teacher used to move round the classroom, filling 40 inkwells from a very large jar of the stuff. Well, that was in the late 1940s and I never wanted to use blue-black ink again. Maybe, I should buy a 30ml Diamine sample ( very low-cost , here in England ).. Thanks for showing this. Also , I repeat, what I said, when I watched your early videos, back then, : I have never seen a 'lefty' write so effortlessly , with a such a beautiful result. I remember that you said that it just took practice.

Diamine Blue-Black is nice. Their more premium 1864 Blue-Black is my favourite. Not the horrific old iron gall blue blacks of the past. But just nice rich dark inks that perform really well. My handwriting isn’t always amazing, but it took a lot of practice to make it even legible.

@@theoffstageme I wanted this ink this weekend from a local shop. As they were out of stock, I purchased a lamy blue black 50 ml instead. Pretty dissapointed with the purchase. Lamy blue black is not like the black at all, appears more of grey in color. I would prefer platinum blue black or sailor blue black anyday.

@@dashsunil Lamy Blue Black really is just a dark blue I find. I personally like my blue blacks a little darker or at least greyer.
