Dirks death f****d me up for a while when i first saw this series because i had a real great friend who jumped almost the exact same way off an overpass bridge near my old high school and he video chatted me right before he jumped saying "too late bro, im sorry". When I tell you that i felt guilt, sadness and rage so extreme, i saw my face make the same face ray did when he helped his brother and then burnt the house down... shit still haunts me every single friday of the year cause i was suppose to go to a really special party that was FOR him and i was his ride...

Bro listen to me when I tell you that I feel your pain and am there for ya.. I will share my story with advice after....... I had almost the same thing happen with one of my best mates. We had a falling out and he had to move back in with his parents and we didn't speak for 6 months when out of the blue on a thursday afternoon he called me and a band we both loved was playing in town that weekend on saturday and he was wondering if I was going and If I wanted to go. I told Him i would love to and that maybe we could meet up the on that nite he called (thursday) or the following day (friday) and have a beer and talk about things and we ended up meeting up friday afternoon. When we met up I could tell he was in rough shape, he had always battled shooting up and I had got him clean a few times over the years. He seemed kind of out of it and distant but we had a good talk and were pumped about the concert the following day. when we said our goodbyes he gave me a hug and i said it was good to have him back and that i couldn't wait for the concert the next day. He just stood there for a few seconds looking me in the eyes but not really, it was more like looking thru me like the 1000 yard stare and gave me a half smile and a nod and said yea and turned and walked away, I had a strange uneasy feeling, i can't describe it I just had to get home. Looking back at that moment and how out of place it felt it was like the real him was trapped on the inside and knew it would never see me again and was screaming for help and did not want me to let him leave but at that time demons had him under the spell and were pulling him away and were not going to let me stop him. After I got home a few hours passed and I went out for the nite with some people and my buddy called me 3o times and I just did not want to deal with it at that moment. When he would call like that over and over the past it was usually to hustle and lie for a ride to get a fix or he owed somebody money and he was about to be or had just been beaten to a pulp. He left no voicemail and no text message. At 10am the next morning on saturday I had a knock on my door and it was my mates father and he just looked at me and swallowed and teared up and I knew, I just knew C.J. was gone. He couldn't say a word and we just started crying and hugging. I asked his dad when it happened and he told me the coroner had just left the house but that he had found him at 5am when he got home from work and EMTs said their was nothing they could do. I had missed calls from 9pm the nite before thru 330am on the morning of. What killed him was a hot shot, just a bad dose of crap he shot up and he hd shot up several times over a few hours, the hours he was calling me i guess. they placed his time of death around 330 - 4am. Let me tell you how far I fell knowing all I had to do was pick up the phone. His stone reads " Do not cry for me because I am gone, smile for me because I am free" I will spare you the sob story of self hatred I went thru and tell you still 15 years later I hurt, as so we shall. You have got to talk about this now with people that can help. I lost everything, and I mean everything to the point of living in a storage unit. It is ok to cry it is ok to ask for help and its ok to not be ok. what is not ok is to keep it bottled up cause one day the cork will pop. I tried so hard for several years even getting married and having 2 kids and one day everything just fell apart. I am in therapy and hope to see my kids again one day and if anything that is what it ended up costing me. My kids are paying the price for me not being willing to seek help and turning into a complete pile of shit. Just would like to add I never did anything to my wife and kids or yelled at them or hit them or anything for that matter I just hid from the world in the garage more and more becoming an emotionless zombie until the wife left me with the kids and I can not blame her one bit and she honestly gave it 2 years of trying to get me help before she had to make a choice of what was best for the kids, I screwed up and she was not wrong in doing what she did. She has remarried and they have a happy stable home and are well taken care of and he is a wonderful step father and I thank god for that. Sorry to ramble I just do not want to see anybody go thru the Hell I put myself thru for no reason.. LOve sent your way and I hope You will Find peace

@@georgemccune2923 You're brave for sharing, and I hope it'll help the guy you replied to, or someone else. Glad to hear that you're getting past it now, recovering, and you seem to be in a better place. Also, your story and OP's are why I hate suicide. Hate the act, and the fact that some people think there's no other choice for them. It does far more damage to people left behind than the person who does it. It doesn't end that person's pain, it just passes it on to others. My first girlfriend and I found her dad after he attempted suicide, and I still hear her scream in my head sometimes. Awful stuff. Anyway, as I said, thanks for sharing and also sorry you had to go through all that. And you sound like you've realised yourself, but in case you need to hear it again; it's not your fault, either.

I’m on a rewatch of the series and literally _just_ watched that episode. I was silently ugly-crying during that final scene and it took everything in me to keep it down so my neighbors wouldn’t hear me. And I’d like to remind everyone here that that _very same episode_ opens up with one of the funniest sequences in the whole show, the bit where Ray and Dave are trying to find the President in the woods and find Gary instead. Yet somehow it doesn’t feel like tonal whiplash in the slightest. One of the most magical things about this series, really.

so in reality , the Sterling or Patchett SMG was a design based around the Sten originally prototyped under the name Patchett SMG towards the end of WW2. because the english army had so many Sten guns in reserve , they didn’t contract more Patchetts until a later military trials was held , in which the Patchett won the contract , was refined with notes & suggestions from the trials , and fully integrated into British military service as the Sterling SMG circa 1955. the Patchett is just a prototype Sterling SMG.

Mick Taylor from "Wolf Creek" was the kind of guy you want to avoid....... I hitched up the west coast of Oz in '89 and If that movie had been out before then, there's no way I would have done it. Did meet plenty of people like Mick Taylor too! Think there was a real guy offing hitch hikers in Oz at that same time too, luckily I never heard about him either........ the daft things you do when you're young?

I mean there is definitely an underbelly like this everywhere but tbh i don't think there's been anything going on in Australia. But then again, the media covers the most random stuff. I barely used to take trains as a kid so when i went out with mates the train was stopped due to a "jumper". Thought it was a one off, but it turns out it happens A LOT more often than you'd think. And i barely knew anything about this from the news.

Reminds me of a story told by Sammy the Bull Gravano, his friend dying of cancer asked him to shoot him in the head to go out like a man, Sammy delayed because he couldn't do it. By the time he showed up with a gun and silencer his friend had just died. He is glad he didn't have to do it but also regrets it as it was his friends dying wish

4:27 I know this is nothing like that Sammy da Bull story of one of his more famous hits out of the 19 people he killed. Sammy set up the and executed that Trenton and Philly mobster Frankie Keys perfectly. Don’t know why they drove from Jersey to Staten island to execute the hit but it was a good one non the less. Frankie Keys had heart issues and demanded he was allowed to take his heart medication because he wanted to die the cosa nostra way. Sammy added to the story that Frankie demanded that a made guy took the final shot and if he could take off his shoes 👞 before they killed him as a message to his wife. When asked why? he said that she’ll know why. Sammy said that he made himself to look as non threatening as possible when they 1st met up with keys because had over 10 hits under his belt and would easily tell a hit was coming. Lulling the guy by making him think Big Pual was going to meet him at a golf course of all places to have a sit down, knowing dam well Paul hardly left his mansion the White House unless necessary.
