I think Donkey Kong Country 3 is very underrated, I love the bartering system with the bears, hidden banana bird caves, the soundtrack on the SNES was so great it couldn’t be replicated on the GBA (which had its own unique soundtrack), and the open world to explore with the unique vehicles was awesome to explore especially when you found secret areas.

I really wish Rare would come back for it. I love Retro's take on the series but i miss the variety in gameplay of the snes country trilogy. Retro's games are more action focused but in Rare's games you can feel the heart put into them.

Great list! For me, my top five Donkey Kong games go: 5. Returns 4. Tropical Freeze 3. Dixie Kong's Double Trouble 2. Country 1. Diddy's Kong-Quest Lot of it I admit is nostalgia, but nothing can beat the fun of the OG trilogy. Not to mention the still beautiful graphics and the AMAZING soundtracks!

The trilogy in general is better than tropical freeze which has an amazing soundtrack and great level design but controls terribly especially with DK alone and no assist barrels

Tropical Freeze is not even that good, there is a clear bias because it's newer but DKC1 and 2 are far better games.

@@DMaster8686 Been a while since I played DKC2 but I don't remember being as elated playing it as I was when playing Tropical Freeze. Every level was more inventive and different than anything I had seen from that series before. Don't remember movement or jumping being problematic. I only remember that the game was a very decent challenge and every cleared stage felt like an actual accomplishment. That said, DKC2 wasn't an easy game either. In the end, top 10 lists are opinionated pieces and there is no clear 'better game'. If you believe there is, I could see you being bothered by any list that does not happen to be the same as yours. Some people here even believe DK64 should be first and that would never make it anywhere close to it in my list (although it does have the best final boss fight in the series). Recency bias IS a thing but Tropical Freeze is 10 years old. Nostalgia bias definitely is also a thing, if not an even more powerful bias.

Thank you for including the 1994 Gameboy Donkey Kong in the list! That game is criminally underrated and a lot of fun. Of course, the levels get harder and trickier the further you progress, but once you have the right strategies and go through a lot of trial and error, you can beat the game without too much difficulty.

That's the aspect I don't like about Tropical Freeze (and actually newer games in general) that they tend to stay much easier and very forgiving. Having 4 hits with both kongs instead of losing one with a hit is insane

Nintendo should remaster both DKC Returns & Yoshi's Wooly World with the DKCR 3D and Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World content. In DKCR's case, it means making the already gorgeous game even more so in HD plus more control options like on 3DS

I'd love them to take another stab at the idea of racing with Animal Buddies. Looking back, a really good use the Animal Buddies could have had in DK64 is for fast travel. Once you hit a button in certain areas at the "end" or high points of a worl, it activates crates in many areas, and you can use the animals to blaze through areas you've already been in to speed up the game a bit. Imagine being able to use Rambi or Expresso on land to tear around fast, or Engaurde simply to speed through the underwater areas....

I heard that there was a third Donkey Kong arcade game, but I never heard of Stanley the Exterminator. After learning about it, I can see why he is forgotten. Although, if Nintendo makes a new Super Smash Bros. game, it would be interesting if they included Stanley as one of those trophy battle items.

Video spoilers! Paused to comment before the top 2, because I know which ones they are (it's obvious lol), I imagine the ones making this list had a hard time deciding on #1. ... Oh yeah. 100% agree. Only one DK game could top DKC2, it was an absolute masterpiece for its time. But Tropical Freeze was on point. Even the world map was an amazing callback to DKCR, and I love that attention to detail. And a solid final boss.

While a great game, Donkey Kong (1994) I don't think should have been included. In a lot of ways it is a precursor to the Mario Vs Donkey Kong series, If you are not going to include those then why this one. Mario Vs Donkey Kong is a like a spiritual remake of this game.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is Not Better than Returns but I LOVE in that Game you can Play as 4 Characters Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Crangy Kong, Defienitily Diddy Kong and DixieKong are my Favourite DK Characters Combo, Tropical Freeze have an AMAZING Gameplay, Level Designs, Soundtracks, Co-Op with 4 Players Villains defienitily Boss and Boss Battles like a Polar Bear Boss battle. I still have Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for a Wii U after 10 Years and 6 Years ago it came for a Switch since 2018 where you can Play as Funky Kong, haven't Buyed it yet but someday I'll Buy and Play it for a Switch too. Rarest Donkey Kong Game what I have for Nintendo Gamecube and Kongo Drums is Donkey Kong Jungle, I Don't have Nintendo Gamecube what my Big Brother have but I have that Game, Gamecube Controller, Wii and Wii U, I knowI can Play Gamecube Games for a Wii but can I PlayGamecube Games for a Wii U with Gamecube Controller? Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is a DK Game haven't Never heared Before This video and I Gotta say it looks Really Fun like a Mario Kart Version of Donkey Kong what Diddy Kong Racing is too. I don't know if it is nostalgia speaking, but I would say the original dkc trilogy has a unique charm newer games don't. Music in newer games must be always very upbeat, while the older ones were free to take their time like in stickerbush simphony
