I’ve never been a massive fan of Leafeon, mostly because it’s grass type, however I recently did a grass monotype of Pokémon Platinum and it absolutely killed, final moveset of: Leaf Blade Aerial Ace X Scissor Swords Dance Definitely got a new found love for this Pokémon

Until this year I never played any Pokemon game past G2, but as soon as I saw Leafeon it became one of my favorite Eeveelutions based solely on design. By the time I made it to the first gym in Shield I learned that you can catch an Eevee right outside the town and use the Leaf Stone you find to make a Leafeon which has to be a record for the earliest Eeveelution acquisition in any Pokemon game. I wanted a grass type for my time because I picked Scorbunny and none of the G8 grass Pokemon were cool enough for em to want to take them with me on my journey so I'm turning to using Leafeon to fill that void. Normally I only use current gen Pokemon in any main game, but I can't even get an Eevee until I beat the Elite Four in Brilliant Diamond so this is just too tempting.

What I don’t get is that Glaceon - a personal favorite of mine - originally had Water Pulse, great special Water coverage for Rock and Fire. But then it lost access to learn it via TM or move tutoring and could only be transferred with it from the Gen 4 Sinnoh games; instead, it got Aqua Tail which is not only a physical attack, but no secondary effect compared to Water Pulse confusion. AND NOW, if you try to transfer a Glaceon with any of those Water moves to Sword and Shield, the game will tell you to delete those moves. I mean, Glaceon is defensive enough, but also not enough. It needs that coverage back.

I think a good way to buff Flareon (as well as other physical Fire-type attackers without arms) is to increase the power of Flame Wheel and make it a more widely-learned move.

You did not just put my girl Glaceon as the weakest....... She literally put in so much work in my Platinum playthrough, top tier even smoked Cynthias Garchomp, best evolution in my eyes behind Sylveon, even better then Jolteon. EDIT: It is true that ingame she is a nightmare to train, what I did was I just put Eevee in the daycare as soon as I could, by the time I got to Snowpoint city it was already lvl 37. Had to have her relearn icy wind, taught her Blizzard as the only tm move but she performed amazingly the lack of speed doesn't cripple her at all and the special attack completely wrecks most mons, beast in doubles too.

Hi, script writer here! I did initially consider placing Glaceon a bit higher up initially, but I eventually decided against it when I ran a few other tests in prep for the video. I absolutely do think that it does place high in the context of the Sinnoh games, but having tried to use one in some of the other games (looking at you especially, ORAS), it eventually just fell off for me, and I had similar issues in competitive outside a handful of specific cases. Same kind of issue with Umbreon; I love using it, and it's one of the few Pokemon who should be able to learn Toxic, but can't, so I couldn't place it as high as I'd have done if it still did. My apologies if you disagree on the matter, but that's also the beauty of these kind of lists, since it's a way for everyone to voice their opinions!

i kinda disagree strongly lol glaceon flareon and leafeon are still bottom 3 but jolteon is MUCH weaker than espeon umbreon and especially sylveon. 2nd is a toss up between espeon and umbreon because espeon has better move diversity in terms of typing, umbreon has a better type and isnt as much of a glass canon 1st is undoubtedly sylveon since it has a great movepool and has a move that covers all its weaknesses and has very impressive SPA and Bulk with many poison moves youll encounter being special itll definitely tank it steel is its only real weakness and even though i think itll tank it regardless, just use trick room

In my opinion there is no such thing as a weak eeveelution I should know because I used all the eeveelutions including glaceon which is a power house it the moves icy wind and freeze dry dealts so much damage to all the Pokémon it went up against and I am using a flareon in Pokémon sp and it is a incredible Pokémon it is much stronger then people think because with the right move set any eeveelution can be a power house so it is important to never underestimate any of the eeveelutions by the way in Pokémon bdsp you can either level it up near the mossy rock or you can use a leaf stone on a eevee to evolve it into a leafeon even though my all time favorite Pokémon is umbreon the hidden ability that umbreon can get inner focus which one of its effects makes the ability intimidate have not able to work on the umbreon

Hi, script writer here! Like I said in a similar reply, initially considered placing Glaceon up higher. Gen 4 games, where it originates from, really make a solid case for it, pun intended, but I feel it really falls off in comparison to some of the others. I won't deny part of it is due to ice usually being an awful typing, but I also put my own experience into the games as well. Absolutely will say that it is fairly decent in monotype, all things considered, having made a couple mono-ice teams before! Unfortunately, Glaceon does have a good handful of downsides to it, and it's something I couldn't overlook, unfortunately, when it comes to overall usability. To make another example, similar kind of case with Umbreon; I love it, it's my favorite one, but lack of Toxic and damage output seriously hampers the usability of it. Before doing proper placement, I actually did some testing in some games, as well as online in competitive to prevent any bias and to properly refresh myself on each.

To be honest, it's very difficult to untangle the viability of the various Eeveelutions in the top 5. All of them bar Sylveon have had solid roles in OU, and even as power creep has progressed, have found good places in the lower tiers. If I had to redo the top 5, it would probably be something like: 5. Jolteon - Great speed and solid Special Attack but poor defensive utility outside of opposing Electric types 4. Espeon - Very strong and has Magic Bounce but can't consistently switch into the status it wants to bounce because it's very frail 3. Sylveon - Fairy typing with Pixillate, fine special tank and offensively potent to boot 2. Umbreon - Massive bulk and great support movepool, placed 2nd at Worlds 1. Vaporeon - Has great bulk as well along with Water typing, (slightly) better movepool (notably Scald and Ice Beam), great ability, can still be an offensive threat with Hydro Pump Also a consideration, the best Eeveelution in each gen: 1. Jolteon 2. Vaporeon 3. Jolteon 4. Vaporeon 5. Espeon probably (they all kinda stink in OU) but Umbreon is great in UU 6. Sylveon (according to the ORAS UU VR) as well as it being decent in VGC 7. Sylveon in singles, Umbreon in VGC 8. Umbreon in singles, idk about VGC

My favorites (in order) are: Leafeon (favorite design. Good spread of attack and utility, AND HP drain AND recovery moves. Even gets a sleep move which is just MEAN.) Espeon (good attack. Defence is Okay. Gets a recovery move) Umbreon (good defense and resistances, but 40-60 only-and largely locked behind lvl 25&lower kinda annoys me, as does how FEW TMs of its type it’ll actually learn. Gets a recovery move) Sylveon (good attack and utility. Dragon and dark type slayer. Just don’t let it play with knives) Vaporeon (really good attack, good HP, decent defense, gets a recovery move. Favorite of the Original 3 moveset wise but least favorite OG Design-looks like shakespear, and not in a good way) Jolteon (good speed and apparently the one The Good Pokemon Players use…but I get annoyed by needing to train it TM to have Any decent moves. Attack feels MEH. At least its design is cook for the OG 3 ig?) Flareon (just all around MEH. Much better firetypes to use, same problem of Most Moves Via TM. Design looks like “Eevee but Orange” with NONE of its charm.) Glaceon (if I could do Doubles Standard for encounters and crap, maybe I’d appreciate it better. Just let this thing be a support…because it wants to be a support. It’s attack is…um. It’s moves are…I swear setting up Hail does more. Does it…do anything that either Doesn’t demand hail and/or is some sort of buff or debuff?? Aside from ice fang which is just…okay?? Yeah I’d rather just use froslass for my glass cannon ice type….)

If they switched Glaceon's Defense with it's Speed stat it would be great since it's not trying to be bulky and more like Weavile (though a bit slower but it would be a fast special attacker). Flareon just needs more Fire moves that don't have recoil and are physical like Fire Lash or something. I feel like Leafeon should've had higher Special Defense should've had the 130 instead of Defense. Maybe Umbreon could get Prankster as a hidden ability or something. I'm starting to notice a problem with the speed on these eeveelutions. Maybe they could give 25 more stats to the stat they need it the most in, mostly speed from what I can tell.

Just gonna drop Guts Facade Flareon in the chat I used it in the 6th gen games when battling online. Has to have been Flareon's best gen ever, it was really fun to use then~ Jolteon is the one I had the least fun using. It's fast and quite strong, but the overall coverage of the moves it gets really wasn't that great. It might be further hindered in my eyes due to the fact that my favourite pokemon Manectric performed better in battle than it did whenever I used them So to me Espeon is the best when it comes to attacking just because of the coverage, speed and special attack it's got And it shares that spot with Umbreon because gahdaym Umbreon has been the most fun it's ever been to use a tank. This boi can take so many hits

I’m sad to see glaceon last. Probably the cutest eeveelution in my opinion. I can’t disagree though because Ice is the weakest typing. My favorite is probably vaporeon because it’s so unique looking. Although I also love espeon and umbreon. Between those 3 I go back and forth with favoring each of them. Jolteon’s design is also awesome and I’m always satisfied to use it in games. Especially in gen 1 because pin missle helps so much with the psychic types. I don’t really like leafeon’s design as much as the others but it’s not a bad design. Before gen 4 games came out I used to wonder what a grass eeveelution would’ve looked like. I think coming up with the concept of a grass type eevee isn’t easy so I’m satisfied with what we got. I’m not the biggest fan of sylveon either but that’s probably mostly because the fact that fairy is a type just doesn’t make sense to me. I really love sylveon’s eyes. Flareon kinda sucks in the games. I tried to use it in leaf green once and it did stay on my team the whole playthrough but I actually had to have a ninetales on my team just to have a decent fire type on my team.

I agree, Vaporeon is overall better than Jolteon in my opinion; not only is it's typing better, but it gets better coverage as well. The main advantage Jolteon has over any other Eeveelution (or a anything else, for that matter) is having a really high speed stat, which while it's useful, it doesn't mean as much for an offensive Pokemon if it lacks coverage, which is why it's been hit hard recently

Stats and move pool aside, Jolteon has another advantage over the other eeveelutions. Its typing has only one weakness, ground. Yet to be fair, there are plenty of ground types in the game where the odds of facing one is more than likely.
