Standouts for me: - 0:58 Kauli Vaast backside under the lip on a BIG ONE! - 1:53 Shion Crawford SICK carves. Both are sick, but that second one with the tail slide was so buttery, like I WISH, dream I could do that. - 3:20 Ethan Ewing slashing the top off those little foamy caps in the most perfect place and time. SHEEEWWWW!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 The Surgeon! And that gaff at the end just seals the deal. UGH - 4:14 JJ Florence of course. Not the best I've seen of him, but standout nonetheless. - 5:32 Kauli Vaast AGAIN hooking under the lip on another scary one just right under the lip and in such a critical, heavy, and dangerous part of the wave. What an animal! - 6:20 Kanoa Igarashi slashing. Another surgical approach although I would like to see MORE POWER-maybe more abandon. I always remember surfing with Kanoa at Upper Trestles when he was like 17 and I was jealous of how good he surfed. Made me almost want to quit surfing! I didn't know who he was at the time, but I feel better knowing that he's legitimately one of the best surfers in the world. Wheeww! GO KANOA! - 7:08 JJ Florence - ok, yes, a reminder that the waves still weren't gnarly enough for the alien to come out, but this wave gives flashes of it... - 10:43 Bettylou Sakura Johnson meeting pressure with pressure in the final. That was a heavy wave and she went for it. I respect that! Great contest everybody! Stoked to watch more replays, for the upcoming North Shore comps and to see who wins, who loses, and all the heroics and maybe I'll get my scared ass up there sometime soon! 🐥🐓🐓😬
