This issue can be resolved by simply reverting to the previous designed crank position sensor configuration. Check if the crank pulley/harmonic balancer has tonering teeth on the back side of it. If it does not, simply downgrade it to the previous years’ harmonic balancer that does. Then install then old crank position sensor in the available mounting position. You then need to extend route crank sensor wires to the harmonic balancer sensor location and do a crank sensor relearn. Done.

Easier said than done! These engines are so tight that event to fabricate comfortably you’d have to half way pull it out the car! Where exactly would we find a new mounting position if it was never there !??
@stevey5004 ай бұрын
@@Sliderz_Officialno fabrication is needed… the mounting point for the 2014 and older crank sensor still exists on the later designed engine. Simply purchase the older style crank position sensor and mount it where it goes. If your crank pulley is missing the tone-ring teeth, simply replace the pulley with the older style pulley. Easy to swap these crank pulleys) Run wires to the older style sensor, relearn the crank sensor. Done. This should all be able to be accessed simply dropping the skid plate, if that.

Any idea on labor to this job ?
@Sliderz_Official8 ай бұрын
Labor rates are different everywhere but I would say this is a $1200 job for an experienced mechanic. It was not extremely difficult but when working with a car with older/brittle/rusty parts it can be a bit time consuming to make sure nothing is damaged in the process.

We paid dealership to replace tone ring, after less than 40 miles, short trips, tranny fàiled. What did they do wrong to cause this?

It was chipped exactly like yours

They probably didn’t fill the transmission back with fluid to the proper level after the job was done.

Just paid 350 to get my crank sensor replaced in my 2015 fiat 500 at a dealership. Ends up my tone ring is damaged. Is my car trashed?

My Fiat 500 has been sitting in my garage for 5 months with this error... already tried replacing the sensor. This is still one of my projects, to replace this tone ring. Going to be replacing the rear main seal as well. Took forever just to get the two parts

will definitely lyk it'll be difficult to start it once you're done because of the fact these cars lose compression pretty quick, however there is a purge valve in the oil fill tube that you turn with a screwdriver and it should help you start your car if its been sitting for a while
