I think I got up to number 40 in my previous video: part one of my 2023 perfume buys: Jan-Aug • Every Fragrance Buy In... and this is part two!
So here is every fragrance that's entered my perfume collection since September 2023 in a collective perfume haul. I began the year with the intention of sampling lots and buying bottles only rarely. I have been sampling a lot, but I also have bought a lot of fragrances still. There are 15 fragrances detailed in this video, although some of these perfumes have been competition wins and one was a very special gift from a subscriber.
So in this video, I'm going to talk through each perfume chronologically with the reasoning (or not...) behind me buying / obtaining each one, whether it was a considered purchase perhaps ticking off my wishlist, whether it was a blind buy or a gift and where they are now and what I think of them having lived with them for a while, are they loves or perfume regrets?

As someone who also owns No5, but it isn’t my style…spray it in the bath, it’s glorious! It lingers more delicately after drying off and then is pretty much a soft skin scent in the morning. It’s a great way to enjoy No5. I never thought I’d say this, but if I run out, I could see buying another bottle *just* for the bath. Haha! Who am I 😅

Thanks Tara! I'm definitely going to try that! It makes sense because it is that clean soapy luxurious vibe! I can see that it would be less strong and more subtle by doing that and your bath would smell amazing too. IDK.... I pulled out my Chanel no5 today and completely fell in love with it. I've always had it in my collection one version or another ..but really never worn the newest reformulation. I've had much better versions than the current one. but it's still a very beautiful fragrance . Honestly, I just don't get old lady vibes from it anymore.. don't think ever did. I think, it just got labeled badly through certain influencers

@@marywendt7 I very happily wear mine, but only occasionally. I am happy to have a bottle and agree, it's quite often a safe influencer target for them to hate. I.e. if they hated a recent popular release, they'd get more negative reaction towards what they were saying I think.

L’Elephant should be considered a Dominique Ropion masterpiece. A stunning winter/holiday fragrance. That bottle may last you a lifetime. The fruits of your labor are very much enjoyed and appreciated here on your channel! Happy new year Dr. Claire!

I’ve bought so many fragrances this year - I shock myself sometimes when I look at my collection 😅 But I do use & love them all equally so that aspect of it doesn’t bother me 10:10 N°5 is gorgeous - the vintage Parfum and EDC especially 😍However I can appreciate the contemporary EDP - definitely has that retro bubble bath vibe. 17:20 Lucky you! The fragrance community as a whole are so generous ❤ 22:43 From the notes, you’d think it would be a bit more barbershoppy and pleasant. I don’t like blue fragrances either, that dihydromyrcenol and ambroxan combo makes me shudder 22:57 My first mention! Woohoo. I’m glad you managed to push past the bidders 😂❤ 27:25 Finally! I remember you saying on the same evening that I sent you the link to the Alien listing that you were trying to get in contact with the host.

Yes if they are ones that you enjoy and use, then I think this is a pretty harmless hobby 😊 I love wearing something different when I fancy and having some choice so I'm with you! I tend not to blind buy much now and I think my enjoyment of my collection is going up. I haven't smelt the vintage parfum and EDC versions, but I remember my mum having no5 EDT when I was little. I was truly astounded that someone wanted to send me that! I'm so grateful and still a bit in shock 😂 It is a little barbershop, I guess it's probably more than actually. But that weird texture was a complete no for me sadly. I am very very grateful! I tried that new bottle of Alien and it's perfect and original and smells stunning 😍 Sarah didn't visit England in the end, she instead posted me the fragrance. I have it and it's an interesting experience, definitely not something I would ever have chosen, but I think it must be calmer than the vintage version as it's not as loud as I suspected that it might be... @@dr.claire.perfume I love blind buying - the rush is addictive 😂 but I know my limits. I hate to project or predict others’ opinions but if I’m being honest I don’t think you’d like the vintage parfum or EDC in the slightest 😂 seeing as you’re indifferent about the EDP at the moment. If you can, try the modern EDT and Parfum, and the L’Eau & Eau Premiere flankers. I feel as though they’d be more approachable. I love barbershop fragrances, but for me to like a blue fragrance, it has to be unique (most fail at this stage) and most importantly… pleasant to the nostrils. Maybe if it’s heavier on the barbershop side I would end up liking it! Glad to hear about Alien - as I said at that time I’d recently bought a vintage partial so I’m glad I decided to send you the listing. I surprise myself sometimes 🤣 You should leave it to macerate for a while and use up the rest of your other bottle. That usually makes a big difference, especially if it’s came all the way from Pakistan. And the cold has made some of my recent fragrance purchases smell less strong at least momentarily, so again giving it a chance to warm up and macerate will do it the world of good You’re totally welcome. You're right! It is addictive, I felt like I was good at it to begin with, but as my collecting progressed, I got pickier I think 🤔 I still do it occasionally 🙊 With Chanel no5, I like both L'eau and Eau première, but I've only tried them in store a few times. I didn't try the modern EDT. I need to familiarise myself with fougères a little more. I feel like I mostly avoid the category. I didn't try them enough, the only one I have is a mini of Colonia really. I have left Orchid Soleil in the box for now. 😊 It will have a nice sleepy winter. Alien will come out the play for sure though 😉

I think No. 5 is for big and glamorous occasions, the aldehydes really evoke champagne bubbles, is a fragrance for a big elebration, I feel almost requires a gown. Something at night and glamorous in order to make it shine as it deserves. I feel any circumstance under that makes it feel dated unfortunatelly. But wearing it for a wedding at night lets say, makes you stand out. Saddly I don't have many ocassions to be able to make it justice.

I do think it's of its time (more the 80s when it was reformulated than when it was launched), I wouldn't wear it regularly I don't think. It's a mood I guess. 😂 I agree it would suit a glamorous occasion. I think if it hadn't have been in a very inexpensive bundle with Coco, which was cheaper than I could find Coco alone, then I wouldn't have bought it, but I'm enjoying the experience so far. idk all of these frags but most of them are pretty awesome! i like Givenchy Linterdit Rouge, a solid release from Givenchy and as u said the bottle is stunning! and somehow i found my self liking Chanel n5 and even liked one of its clones, that TF is a lovely gift from ur friend/subscriber.. and oh look at that art piece of Kenzo Flower Elixir bottle.. fab vidéo!

Happy Saturday. I must say I have only purchased fragrances that I’ve sampled and truly love. I enjoy vintage fragrances and have found buying partial bottles to be a benefit. I gifted my Terracotta to my sister. She loved it and I just liked it.

Happy holidays Claire, you found some great fragrances. I would like to draw your attention to Coco EDT, I find it easier to wear than the EDP. Also, No 5 EDT is the version from 1920's as is the extrait, the EDP is from the 80's, composed by Jacques Polge if memory serves, it's very beautiful too but slightly different, less icy than the original Ernest Beaux No 5. Terracotta was on my wishlist for over a year before I finally bought it. The price seemed to keep going up. I'm sure at one point here, a brand new bottle was about £40, that would be an insanely good deal now. But the price is also seasonal, if you do buy it, now in winter is the time to do so! Wow yes! It might be after Christmas though ☺️ remind me! I really do enjoy both of those fragrances from Mabelle o'Rama, I think she will be big. I've seen people nominate her as indie perfumer of the year in certain award schemes... She's definitely someone to watch. The Miller Harris fragrances I need to explore more, I've not worn them more than twice so far, so I'm not sure I have an entirely accurate view of them, but I doubt reverie de bergamot will be staying. I don't think I went overboard this year thankfully, when I take out giveaway wins and some pr, my purchases were fewer in number but probably higher in cost than last year. I'm ok with that. Ah Chanel…when I first started sneaking sprays off my mother’s tray as a child, Chanel No. 5 and Cristalle were among her fragrances. We’re talking as a third grade child - going to school smelling of Chanel! As well as Giorgio Armani Beverly Hills, Halston, White Shoulders etc. 🤦‍♀️ Coco reminds me of my days clubbing in the eighties. There was a hard rock eighties hair band club in Baltimore called HAMMERJACKS that we would go to and Coco reminds me of some of those wild fun times. Definitely a trip down memory lane when I smell it. I have a very small bottle of it and wear it only occasionally. I definitely know what you mean when you speak about how your fragrance tastes have evolved. Throughout my 30’s I couldn’t bear to smell like Chanel but now my tastes have evolved and grown and their signature DNA is so special to me and I love wearing them. They exude class. I’ve always been curious about Kenzo Elephant. I’ll be on a no-buy throughout 2024 but will always continue to watch fragrance channels that speak of the MANY aspects of fragrance which I truly appreciate with you and your channel. See you in 2024! Oh - and if you ever decide to get rid of the Alien you snagged 🤚 - I’d definitely be interested!

I know! I used to sneak sprays of my mum's rive gauche and obviously I also even drank some of her Chanel no5 edt splash bottle 🤣 Coco just has that big shoulder pads vibe about it. It's a big fragrance but lovely and soft in the drydown. I have tried so many different Chanel fragrances this year and I think that's helped to increase my appreciation of them. It took me a while to get into Coco mademoiselle even to begin with! Good luck with your no buy! I didn't buy anything since that Alien, so that is already over a month ☺️ I hope I can continue until the new year. Iv had a pretty quiet year. I've not bought anything at all "technically" in December. Terracotta is a very lovely one. I never liked these "beachy" ones but that's because I'd smelt cheap awful ones, which they still make, theh can even smell like conditioner... But Terracotta is one that definitely changed my mind. It's very nice. Lunar Dust is a very lovely one 😍 lovely calm and cool. Astarte Forbidden Bloom I absolutely love, it has them beachy tropical vibes but fruity and floral. The pear drops feel is mmm 😍. A great discovery of the year. I suspect I will be buying it next year 😉 I nearly fell over... You bought an Amouage 😱 Em will be dropping the Rojas soon 🤣. Love love Opus III. It's one of the most elegant fragrances I've ever sniffed. Possibly the poshest bed scent ever. Omg I'm traumatised... I've watched this video a few times now there was a Paradoxe advert... Emma Watson? Noooo why? How? I hope they paid her very very very well. Coco oh yes 😍 not an everyday one but definitely very wow 😍. You've got as much as me in there. If u ever wanted to unload ur No. 5 I know someone who'd buy that off u 😉. It is again a once in a while one but gorgeous. My bottle from my mum... 🙄 Yea let's just say it doesn't hit the spot 😅.. The Elephant, well I look forward to sniffing it. I went and got Fate to compliment my Coco. I'm glad you got it eventually. You had wanted it for a long time. Yes you've wanted Rouge for a long time. Great with a lippy too. It probably was quicker and cheaper for Fatima flying over than it was from Royal Fail. Yes so many lovely folks. Hmm the Miller Harris, I do love some alot. I’ll never pay Xerjoff prices, but I’m happy I experienced it! I love a lot of vintage fragrances. Ysatis, Amarige, Cinnabar etc. I actually love many types of perfumes. I prefer the eau de toilette, it’s much more wearable than the EdP while it’s still quintessentially Coco. I can’t believe I haven’t tried Kenzo L’Elephant given that I love spicy amber orientals. I had Cabochard at one point. Like Bandit it’s a pungent leathery mossy earthy chypre, aromatic and woody, no sweetness whatsoever. Then there’s also Azurée from Estee Lauder. I don’t need more than one such scent in my collection. I’m curious. Will you be keeping your Bandit?

I bought a decant of Opus III after watching one of Jon's videos and really loved it so ordered a full bottle! I love mimosa and I love violet and so this really ticked all the boxes for me. 🥰 I totally agree about the Flower Elixir...I blind bought it and it does come across a bit synthetic and plasticky to me. Jon definitely knows an interesting or a beautiful fragrance. He is probably the biggest influence on me overall I think. Our tastes overlap more than I think I overlap with most others on KZbin. He deserves 1000s more subscribers. Opus III is unassuming but beautiful. Yes Flower L'elixir was a bit of a let down, I don't think it will stay in my collection too long, I haven't reached for it, the plastic put me right off... Wow, that Alien! What a journey! I was so happy when I first got it and then I was in doubt over whether it was authentic but I so wanted it to be that I couldn't open it for a few days, I had to psyche myself up for the potential disappointment 😂 but no! Loved this video, you make every fragrance sound wonderful, I wish I could pick out notes as well as you do! Regarding Miller Harris - I’ve bought two Miller Harris fragrances in the past and I struggle with both, just wondered if you had tried either of these and if so what you think of them? Le Pamplemousse - I love grapefruit but this is too bitter for me so I gave it to my husband, he quite likes it but I find it hard to tolerate on him too !! 😅 The second one is ‘Dance amongst the Lace’ - this I need to retry in boiling hot weather as the mint opener is just too minty in my opinion. I’m wondering if the Miller Harris brand is not for me 😂 Thanks for a great video as always xx

Thank you ❤️ I think I have the same thing with Miller Harris, a love is rare..if you like leather / suede then I'd recommend etui noir. I've not tried either of the two that you have but I've been tempted by them in TKMaxx! I've noticed that Miller Harris seem to love mint and also blackcurrant (leaves), at least with their older scents. I think the better ones tend to be the older ones. But yes, I've certainly disliked a lot of the ones that I've tried but there are loves too! I hope you have a fab Christmas and thanks for watching this year, I appreciate it 🥰

Wow, I bet it is scorching, I watch a few people in Australia, not perfume, but in Melbourne and Perth not South Australia and they seem like they are roasting!
