Originally, the dream was supposed to end with Jason catching up to her and beheading her. The studio thought that was anticlimactic and since III was supposed to be the last one, they wanted to bookend with the original.

She goes to the door only for Jason to open it, as she screams Jason grabs her head and beheads her, then she would wake up on the boat. And funny enough that scene originally use the Winston version of Jason's face. But nobody really liked how his face looked so they scrapped it.

If I recall correctly a few years after part 2 was released the main actress from part 2 disclosed she did not like the way she was treated on-set as there were scenes, such as the window scene where Jason comes through the window and grabs her, which were truly a surprise to her when they were filmed. The actress claimed it really scared her, she became angry and walked offset and this is why you don't see much of her face and it's in really slow motion. She stated she suffered emotional trauma /PTSD due to being subjected to surprises such as this while filming and this is why she refused to be involved with part 3. In later years when she started appearing at the autograph shows (most likely for the $$) she claimed schedule conflicts /contract disputes were why she refused to do part 3. ALSO-quick note in part 3 the female lead character in the boat is looking off to her left and appears to be talking just before being grabbed by the villain coming out of the water. Not sure if this was intentional or a blooper but she definitely looks out of character for a second before being grabbed and pulled into the water. With the pond really only being around 2-3 feet deep surely the actress was aware of the woman standing behind her prior to filming. Maybe the villain jumped up before someone called action?

She definitely appears to be out of character and talking to someone to her left just before being grabbed. It was shot in a man-made pond which was less than an acre in size and only about 2-3 feet deep at its deepest point so most likely the actress in the boat was aware of the villain character probably squatting down just behind the boat. Maybe the villain character thought someone yelled "action" or it was a practice run and the director decided to use it. Cast members have stated in interviews that many scenes were done in one take due to the expensive equipment used to get the 3d effect and the director was not too concerned about the acting performances and minor mistakes unrelated to the 3d effects.

The second one I jumped when I first saw it, the first one not so, but funny story about, on the last day of school in a Tech school we all watched part 1, us boys on one side, the girls on the other, every girl had never seen the movie, when Jason jumped out of the water they all jumped and screamed at the same time, we laughed our asses off at them, one of them turned to us and said "You assholes, you knew that was going to happen"! I said "I've seen the movie 5 times, I knew the exact moment he was coming".

The second is the best and the last is the worst, at least for me. The second, the way they handle the slow motion and the facial work is very believable. But the fact tat even at home, your not safe is what really makes it scary. The last being the worst for me is that the act itself is cut short. Jason pops, grabs, BLACK... THATS IT!... Its a cheapened experience. Its like!!! BOOM !!! JUMPSCARE, BLACK. Its good when it happens and the build up is a good calm before the storm moment but it cuts to black too soon.
