I participated in the Assassins Creed Jade beta on iPhone and my god was it a mess. It only ran for a few weeks, and it wasn’t until the last week that they managed to fix the bugs that prevented beta testers from getting past the main menu into the actual game. I played for a couple hours and I was impressed with what they could run on an iPhone. The most memorable part is how none of the voice acting was implemented yet, but instead of having subtitles with no voices, the dev team decided to have the Google translate voice speak all of the dialogue for everyone. It sounded so terrible.

People say, "Oh, there's a Black samurai Yasuke!" So? That doesn't make it OK to make Yasuke a playable main character. An AC main protagonist must be fictional. There's a reason that AC protagonists are fictional. It's to keep the historical immersion intact. I'd rather have Yasuke as an assassin but not playable, like Mary Read in AC4. He can be the partner for the protagonist. Thus the other option is making a fictional Black character. That's very forced & doesn't make sense setting-wise. Feudal Japan was very reclusive & xenophobic, so anyone who weren't Japanese would've been seen as strange & would've been very hard to be friendly with because they saw foreigners as animals. Yes, anyone who wasn't Japanese would've been seen as animals, according to historical documents from sengoku period & Edo period. Even White people were seen as animals & sometimes as demons called Tengu (because of the big, long nose & round eyes of White people similar to the potrayal of Tengu). Even Yasuke was seen as an animal by Akechi Mitsuhide after he was defeated & captured by Akechi's forces during the coup against the Oda clan. It would make much more sense if the playable character is Japanese. They will blend easier with the crowd & the interactions with NPCs would make more sense.

⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@lucasbelmonte2832 which is why he makes a perfect protagonist for an ac game. assassins travel the world more than anyone else, and a historical figure who we have enough knowledge of to keep accurate while also giving us room to shape his story is perfect. i think these choices of protagonists is definitely meant to fit todays fairly forced progressive agenda, but it shouldnt be seen as negative for the franchise.

@@connr8691 But it is not what people want, Yosuke is an over-glorified historical character in the West who actually didn't do much in his life. It doesn't really matter anyway whatever character Ubisoft comes up with will be inferior to the Jin Sakai as will most of Reds gameplay be inferior to Ghost of Tsushima, Japan has been the most requested place and time for an AC game and yet now that it is happening not a lot of people really care as much as they would have before Ghost, because they know that no matter what Ubisoft do, ghost will have the better story, character, and gameplay and more than likely Ghosts stealth will be better as well. When people play a samurai in feudal Japan they want that guy to be Japanese, because it's just much better.

So a black guy in ancient Japanese🤷🏻‍♂️ Just why? Thats like a Japanese guy playing a assassin in the Aztec Era🤦🏻‍♂️ What idiot came up with that dumb idea? I can see of it was modern day, but it’s in Japan. It’s not even close to the mid 15th century, which is when we actually started to venture to their country. Another example, is a White man playing a assassin in Africa before the 15th century. I may be wrong with the year when the Portuguese sailed to South Africa, but it does make sense of the dumb idea. Ps, anyone who doesn’t know Feudal Japan didn’t end till 1868. But even so ive made examples on why its not a good idea when diving into another country’s history. Yasuke’s story is a great one, but not what needs to be told in a assassin’s game. Samurai normally fought in battles and the woman were normally sent on assassinations. So anyone not understanding why this isn’t a good idea for a assassins game, it wont make much sense on lore and game lore. You can’t change is story to fit the games or the games to fit his, it would be disrespectful to both. Mainly his story of becoming one of the most famous samurai, because he was the only foreigners who was a samurai before the era ended.
