In GoW, it's the weapon being related to the owner, the reason why Thor, Odin and Thrúd are capable of using it, it's most likely because of their family lineage. The Leviathan, for exemple, only returns to Kratos hand because it has the soul of someone close to him (Barlog's words).

Chronos is the embodiment of time in mythology as Gaia was the embodiment of the planet. They are more gods than the Olympians by the roles they hold in their existence

I can't speak on 2018 and Ragnarok cause my journey with Kratos ended when the Greek Mythology series wrapped up. Definitely some epic battles. Need to replay them sometime. Hopefully we get a collection for PS5.

Yeah man the Norse mythology games are absolutely amazing. I'm dead serious man the end of Ragnarok once it starts off it goes quick but Jesus h Christ does that shit build on tension and plays on emotions and by the end of it you were like wow it is a deeply satisfying game to play it is absolutely breathtaking to play in some of those other realms My God. I can see where you're coming from being an OG fan but man kratos having a new son is such a damn good story dude. I learned more about being a father playing that game than I have for my own father. The whole don't be sorry be better motif thing they were going for they absolutely nailed it man That shit is man it's good You need to play it You're missing out a lot The boss fights aren't as epic per say but they carry so much more because of the emotional weight that they carry so they have a lot more meaning to them everything feels infinitely more personal. If you ever get interested in 4 and 5, I think you will love it. The OGs are a classic, but 4 and 5 definitely put Kratos in a different light. Most games can’t successfully do that to a MC.

Hot take: Odin shouldn’t have been a boss. Thor should’ve been a “multiform” boss. Having Odin be the final boss, or at least having him be the kind of boss where he is fighting Kratos directly, is way outside of his character. The fight itself was spectacular in execution, but narratively it just didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me that the guy who had been working through surrogates for the entire game was now going toe to toe with Kratos didn’t really make sense to me. Better yet, they should’ve had the Thor fight, but have Odin taking potshots in the background, and every so often he loses his patience with Thor, enters the frey himself, gets soundly punished for it, and then retreats. When Kratos finally incapacitates Thor, Odin finishes him off but is then himself incapacitated in short order, to have Sindri then finish him

I know I’ll catch some sh$t for saying so, but I really don’t like the two new God of War games that much- they don’t feel like God of War games to me. They are like playable movies- they are beautiful to look at, but not so much fun to play: I keep turning of “Ragnarok” to play “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” instead. I think that “3” is the prime example of what a God of War game could and should be- the action was fun, the graphics were just right, and those enormous enemies were a blast to watch. The only gripe I had with that game was that the uncontrollable camera, and the fact that replaying it was pointless.

The only disappointing part about the fight with Odin is that Atreus gave him a peaceful end by putting his soul in a marble. It would’ve been more satisfying to watch Atreus pull a Modi on Odin & stab him in the neck.
