I think he nails both for different ways: In TATMR, he gives a more posh and irritated, and condescending voice like Gordon throughout most of the railway series up till Awdry’s later books. In AEG, he has a more mature and grounded voice, but still very grand, like Gordon from Enterprising Engines onward

My favorite Gordon voice is not from any of the shows or DVD’s. It’s Trampy’s. He perfectly embodies the grand, pompous, yet well meaning blue engine that we all love.

Neil Crone is the most natural sounding voice for my favorite character hence he's my headcanon voice for him. And I'm so happy to hear his voice in the '2D reboot that shall remain nameless' again because it definitely made him sound middle-aged like in the Railway Series!

OK, I guarantee I'm the only person who thinks this, but as far as I'm concerned, the best person to voice Gordon was Kenji Utsumi, his original Japanese voice for the first 8 seasons. I like Alec Baldwin's voice for him, at least for Season 5, Keith Wickham and Neil Crone are excellent, I even enjoy Michael Angelis's HiT voice for him, but no-one compares to Kenji Utsumi. I love the deep, gruffy voice he gave Gordon. For me, that fits the character the best.

Honestly, it’s very weird. Especially with how many narrators and voice actors exist outside of English. I still like Keith Wickham‘s voice, but Neil Crone’s definitely is intriguing. A fun fact is that he would return as the voice of Gordon, in the US Dub, of, All Engines Go. Yes, that is not a joke, and he even used the same voice as in the movie. I never watched the Japanese Dub much, but they probably had it the best, due to the enthusiasm from all of the voice cast, and I really appreciate it.

@@danielfotheringhamproducti7368 I used to do videos featuring other languages from this series. Believe me, there are thousands of voice actors for these characters in too many dubs to count. If anyone is going to count a non-English voice actor, they'll probably be a Japanese actor. That's the most common foreign version to start with...

It's not every day I see someone bring up the Japanese VAs. But it's kinda funny to hear Recoome (DBZ)'s voice coming out of Gordon. 😆 Despite his mouth not moving. And don't forget Gordon's second Japanese VA, Kenta Miyake, who also voiced Vector the Crocodile, Muhammad Avdol, Shockwave (TF: Prime), and All Might.

I must admit, I wasn't expecting Neil Crone to be Number 1 on this list. But it's certainly well-deserved. And it still boggles my mind that he returned to voice Gordon after 21 years. And he sounds better than ever before!

My favourite voices for Gordon are definitely Keith Wickham and Neil Crone. My second favourites are Michael Angelis and George Carlin. And the fact that Neil returned to voice Gordon again in All Engines Go surprised me. Great ranking on Gordon's voices right there! Maybe other characters like Edward or Henry or the Fat Controller will get their voices ranked in the future.

Gordon is somehow a character that I've come to appreciate more over time. When I was younger, Gordon was a character that didn't really interest me. After Toby, he was my least favorite character from the “Steam Team”. The only Gordon episodes I really liked as a child were “Thomas and Gordon”, “The trouble with mud” and “Gordon takes charge”. I had no idea about the RWS books. It wasn't until I watched The Unlucky Tug‘s video about Gordon and saw what a big journey he had in the books. I started to like Gordon more. After thinking about how Gordon was written in S1-4 and S7-S21, Gordon became one of my favorite characters. His relationships with Edward, Henry, Percy, Thomas and Spencer are all great. He is definitely the best part of the RWS, “The Hit era”/“New series” and “Sharon Miller era”. And out of the first 21 seasons it only had ONE bad episode which was its season 12 episode.

Oh man Neil Crone killed it as Gordon and since I wish that the model series had voice acting before the magic railroad voice actors took over with then I'd say that Gordon being voiced by Ian Abercrombie who could predict Snowball from BFDI's voice by doing Snowball from BFDI's voice with a British accent before Snowball from BFDI or BFDI in general even existed would be key perfection.

2:03, you take that back, his Henry voice is brilliant. It makes him sound like that stuffy, bratty teenager. It reminds me so much of myself. It’s the one I’m giving in a Thomas fan series. It is ridiculous that you put Baldwin in last, rare Sean L. I’m glad you like Robin Smith, he’s a great narrator, but I feel like he only works for the DVDs and PC Games. Your take on Ringo Starr’s Gordon is excellent, you’ve made me appreciate Ringo much more. I can’t wait to see your ranking of Henry.

I like Neil Crone as Gordon. In both All Engines Go and Magic Railroad, his voice fits the character perfectly…but Kerry Shale is a close second for me because The Shooting Star Is Coming Through is an awesome scene from The Great Race and his singing voice sounds amazing

Been really enjoying this series so far! Personally, I'm split between Shale and Crone, personally. I flip-flop between the two frequently. Michael Angelis (RIP) will always be my favourite because he’s the narrator I grew up with but my favourite Gordon who isn’t a narrator is Neil Crone, I’d say he was definitely one of the good castings in The Magic Railroad. The fact he reprised his role as Gordon in All Engines Go is one of two reasons (the other being Eddie Glen as Toby) why I slightly tolerate it’s American dub over the UK dub even though I absolutely despise that show.

I'd have to say, Keith Wickham is my favourite. Any other voice for the UK is an honourable mention for me, along with Neil Crone. Keith Scott, I'll admit, is good. George Carlin is awesome as always. And the others are fine. Well, Alec Baldwin is decent.
