also a tip to everyone as you age be careful with health and medicine : i passed out recently from my meds and partially crushed my fretting hand. still recovering after a few weeks of limited ability! so many things to be careful with lol . . used to feel invincible . . much appreciate the video and warning my friend. good luck to everyone out there who's ever had a scare or is still recovering. Health all around such a big issue to keep aware of.

Oh wow my friend. I’ve been in your shoes many times more often than I’d want to admit. I’m also a passionate cook in the kitchen and I’ve cut my finger before it’s not fun. I was also in the construction industry for a long time and had many cuts and bruises on my hands and was very lucky. I’m very happy to hear that you’re doing better. I wish you well and good luck, my friend, can’t wait toSee you back in the studio.

Best wishes on your recovery. In December, I skimmed the pad of the same finger on a table saw. About as minor as that type of injury could be and lucky no other fingers made contact. About 2 months of daily dressing changes, saline soaks, etc. I don't have a guitar career, but it's been a serious/avid hobby for 40+ years. My first attempt at playing again lasted about 2 seconds 😂. Over a few weeks, I'd try again, make a little progress...repeat. Had a little setback when I got too aggressive too soon and the new skin wasn't ready for that. 4 months past the injury date, I'm mostly ok playing. The very little bit of missing pad and the scar tissue makes me have to be more precise fretting, and occasionally I hit a string a little different and feel some pain. All in all, I'm lucky and grateful. I also do a lot of cooking, and as far as knives, sharp is generally considered more safe as a dull knife requires more force and is also more likely to slip vs cut whers intended. Again, good luck, ans my experience suggests when you get back to playing, soreness is okay, but pain means stop and heal a bit more.

Geeze, glad you're ok Jay. I ripped my tendon clean off on the inside of my finger so I know how you feel. My finger tip was just flopping around. I had a set bandage on my middle finger for 8 weeks. No guitar at all which gave me withdrawals lol! Keep rocking bro.
@guitagious94649 ай бұрын
Oh, Jay! So sorry buddy! I did the same thing - same finger - years ago. Unfortunately, I still have not gotten all of the feeling back in it, even now. However, I can still play, thank goodness!!! ...and you will too, buddy! Just give it proper time to heal. The only chords you should be making for a few weeks are root power chords using just the pointer, ring, and Mr. Pinky fingers! I recently had two trigger fingers repaired on my fretting hand as well (middle and ring fingers). It has all gone great though, and I have played 3 performances since the surgery and can tell it is going to be better than before when all is said and done. (Agree with you regarding Daisy Jones and the Six! Lol!) Here's to a speedy recover, brother!

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this news, but I’m also relieved to hear it is not as bad as it could have been. I’ll be praying for a quick and solid recovery for your finger. Not trying to make you work while recovering, but maybe in a little while you could still make KZbin video. Yes, granted you won’t be playing but you still have tones of musical knowledge you could share. I’m sure you have lots of dry guitar track you could re-amp with a real or model amp to give us a tutorial on how to dial in tones, effects, how mix…etc. Just an idea. God bless Jay, and his recovery. ❤️🩹

Glad you got lucky and didn't get cut any worse. About 25 years ago I cut the tendon on my ring finger of my picking hand. It took a bit more to get sewed back up as it was right where it connected to the bone the hand doc said and 4 weeks longer than normal in the hand cast to keep from moving it he said. Luckily today I don't have any residual issues with it.

i had a 15 gauge guitar string go through my finger once yeah i didn't snip the new string down all the way to the tuning peg the doctor told me i had missed the "capsule" by just a tiny bit i guess the capsule is where all the delicate stuff in the joints meet the doctor said if i had punctured the finger joint i would've had to have surgery as a blind person meself we have guards you can put on knives give the local i believe over there it's the RNIB a call you could probably buy a guard for those sharp knives good luck
