ya, except mjolnir is a titanium alloy, not steel... the reason Kats helmet was penetrated was becasue it was a needle rifle round, Blamite crystals that basically act like an API round...normal rifles rounds would be stopped by mjolnir even without shields, in the halo universe

For rifle rounds you don't really have a choice, you need either hardened steel or titanium, stainless steel is just not suited for resistance, it's a good multi-purpose steel but it's ultimatly not remarquable in any aspect appart rust resistance and affordability.

The visor isn't bulletproof. It's bulletproof to small ballistics. Meaning handguns. Anything higher penetrates which is why the ONI Mjolnir Engineering team installed energy shields into the MK.4 systems. If a Spartan got shot in the visor by anything equal or more than a DMR shot, it would be a fatality. The Spartans strength isn't being bulletproof per say. Although the suit in its metal or lattice materials is indeed bulletproof until shot by plasma energy based weapons. Which melts the metal. Their strength comes from pure muscle, heightened focus and accuracy, speed, and learning speed. They can shoot down an entire squad before they can even pull one trigger. The ability the Spartans have to fight in open gunfire is strictly due to their ability to move quickly and make every shot count.

@@Melanias_Consort Not really, spartan armour is basically immune to every type of bullet and even cannon fire, plasma is the only thing spartans worry about because bullets simply dont penetrate the metal, it can only dent or deflect off or the bullet crumbles. mjolnir is 3 times stronger than titanium.

I bet constructing it out of 3d printed asymmetrical conical tower mesh layers instead of solid stainless would make it even better, and cooling fins like on an air cooled cylinder head around the perimeter would help scatter straight on shots a bit more without adding a lot of weight, maybe some urethane between them to reduce spalling..

@@patrick_grundy You could probably reduce the weight of this by a lot by using actual armour grade steel rather than what they used here, much thinner, better protection, but a full suit would still be far too heavy to wear. Lore accurate MJOLNIR is titanium alloy, which would be a lot lighter, but probably still far too heavy to be practical without assistance or potentially just stuffing your soldiers with anabolic steroids, which is lore accurate, sort of.
