Was fortunate enough to play the North at LACC in 2018. Hands down one of the most memorable and unique rounds of golf I've ever played. Never been more excited for a U.S. Open before!

Kinda the same for me when I played Bethpage Black a year before the 2002 Open was played there. Just a little more anticipation when it's played on a course you've played before. This layout looks sick. Very unique, especially for this tournament.

@colinmahon8092 You call hole 8 wide? Sure, the back 9 is wider, but those hole lengths are crazy too. And the undulations and U.S. Open fast conditions will mean those fairways play effectively much narrower than appear. I see a ton of variety on this layout, which should make for a great tourney!

I have never seen this course before, and I have to say that it is absolutely stunning! At first glance, it seems like angles of play into the greens and hole locations are going to be the primary challenges. I’m pumped for this US Open. I’m really hoping the winning score can stay in single digits under par, but no matter what the pros shoot, this should be a delight to watch.

This new guy, Perpall, said the rough will be minimal, unlike the typical Open layout. And they will be very wide too, but it doesn't matter much since the landing targets will be narrow and rollout will be critical. But you can't have big rough if you have fast sloping greens. He also said there will lots of birdies and doubles. It's a sick layout, and how it avoided an Open til now is shocking.

A perfect golf course. I can’t wait for this tournament. To those commenting that this isn’t that impressive (or it looks like a muni) - respectfully, you could not be more wrong. Rancho Park is only a couple miles down the road and was my home muni for 3 years. I loved playing there but there is absolutely no comparison LACC North is (intentionally) a less lush Augusta National. Creativity and precision will be rewarded on every hole.

100% agree. I think if this course had hosted more major tournaments in the past, it would be ranked as one of the best courses in the United States. The 2029 US Open does not have a venue selected yet. The USGA needs to give that spot to LA North. Gems like this need to host more large tournaments.

After watching the Open I will say the course didn't disappoint. I will eat my crow. What DID disappoint was the USGA and LACC leadership. The rumors of tickets being bought by the club to keep people out, is not the USGA's or the US Open's MO. Augusta and The Masters, I understand, its a very exclusive tournament. If you don't want people on your course then don't host the US Open! With all the roll-back discussion going on I just have to say, the real bi-furcation in golf has been and continues to be rich men lording those who don't have the pedigree.

this course looks bad, surprised its hosting a US open, but hey $$ speaks, and there is no denying this is a very tough course, going for the green on par 5's is going to be a bad idea for most players

What a waste of space in a city short of green public spaces. Private golf courses and country clubs should be taxed like any other business in California. Currently not the case.

Derek, did you just listen to Gil Hanse's comments on the renovation and regurgitate them here? A bunch of this content is almost verbatim what Hanse along with some other commentators have said about the course. Amd how many times can you say "barranca?" Furfher, there's no such thing as a "dry barranca." A barranca, by definition, drains water. A barranca that never has water flowing in it is no longer a barranca, it's just a ditch. And if it really is just a ditch, stop being a golf snob and calling it a "barranca." Most of those areas at LACC aren't barrancas, so just call them "waste areas" or something similar...

Looks like a very interesting course but the winner will be in the -20s most likely

Well, it's not exactly "for all golfers". 😏 Also, seeing a course like this in the middle of LA makes me understand why the progressives are calling for turning golf courses into pubic parks.

The same architect, George Thomas, designed LACC, Riviera & Bel Air CC and he considered LACC to be his masterpiece. Having played all 3 of those courses several times each, I rate LACC over Riviera.

Like Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, Bel Air, Century City really have a homeless problem. Homes in the area surrounding this course sell for $40M - $100M+. You only wished you lived in this neighborhood. That’s All.
