Such a beautiful site. Hot take: the course is so BORING architecturally. One of those course you play and you have trouble remembering every hole, but again, UREAL site and beautiful place to play golf.

That’s how I feel about it too. Repetitive, not super creative, and doesn’t fully utilize the landscape, but a spectacular place nonetheless

Came here to see how accurate EA made this course in PGA Tour Road to the Masters. And I gotta say they basically nailed it spot on.

One of the most stale designs you can find anywhere. Straight holes with little intrigue. Characterless bunkering used in repetitive and predictable fashion - right and left in landing zones and right and left of greens. Enormous difference between watching the National Golf Links of America video and this.

"In 1957 San Diego opened one of the the countries great new public courses", A William Bell designed course that no longer exists. What you have today is a course that you will score 10-15 strokes higher on and play in almost 6 hours thanks to a designer that Phil Mickelson and most other pro golfers hate, Reese Jones. If you don't get fogged out you will wait on every tee for 6 hours, pay 4 times what it is really worth and listen to military jets go full blast over your head every 10 minutes. If you happened to find a broken club or anything else in the trash, don't touch it or they will call the police and claim you stole it. True story, happened to me. Cool puff piece though.

I feel like this course is overrated. If you take it off of the ocean and the cliffs then it's actually a boring course. The holes are just blah.
