Heeey beautiful people! Jei here, the vocalist. Thanks for your reaction and analysis, good to see you enjoyed the song. Ready to answer some of your questions: - This project is all studio right now, I think there was a time back in the day when they also played shows. I and Alan (the mastermind and guitar player/composer/producer/everything) go way back and a couple years ago asked me to join the project. How could I say no to such interesting music? I write lyrics and record/produce them in my studio, then they go straight to Alan. - This song is 'Alien' themed. We are both huge fans, so I wrote the lyrics based on the first (and best) movie. The short "lofi section" you liked at 4:15 is a sample I took directly form the movie where Ripley and Ash are talking about the alien: "Ash, Are you kidding? This thing bled acid. Who knows what it will do when it's dead?" "I think it's safe to assume it isn't a zombie.". I always loved that line and happened to fit that spot perfectly! - The glitches you talk about around 5:00 are just some post production hi hat samples to spice up things. - Yep, all vocals are me. This project lets me experiment a bit more so I go full range and always try some new stuff when I can - Alan does all the writing and production. He's too good at this stuff he makes me jealous :)

Bro!! 👀 Look at this awesome comment. Dayum! Dude, I know I already mentioned this in the comments, maybe even our chats, but this song basically introduced me to you and your vocals, Despite Exile. I'm so glad Alan asked you to be a part of this haha!! ✨ Oooh, I've never seen any of those films - gonna have to change that now 🤣🫶 Thanks for the insight bruddah!! 🙏

@jeidoublerice2282 : Hey, Jei! Jeremy here. Bro!!! What an awesome comment! Thanks for taking the time to break down all these things we were talking about! I absolutely LOVE the Alien franchise (We actually just watched Romulous the other day), so that's really cool to hear that sample came from there. If you haven't been to Gruyere in Switzerland yet, I HIGHLY recommend you visiting the Giger bar there. Holy crap is that awesome! Well, I wish you guys much success with this. This is such a killer project. You and Alan kill it my brother! And if it continues to get bigger, maybe you guys can play it live! Thanks for the clarification on the little hi-hat samples. I love that stuff. Looking forward to hearin' more from ya my brother. And shout out to Matt for always brigning us these FIRE songs to react to!!! @wilksy2008

Oh, one more thing: this particular song is actually where I learnt about Jei, and thereafter, Despite Exile. His vocals blew me away, and it turns out I'd heard them on E.H.K's previous EP, but didn't look into it. Acheron is their latest release, and that said EP was released 3 years prior, and somewhere between not listening to E.H.K and one of my reactor friends checking them out a few months prior to Acheron's release, I started listening to them once again. I discovered Despite Exile because Jei's vocals on this track absolutely slapped me silly and I needed more of that shi- in my life 🤣 They're now one of my favourite bands!

Ok, just for clarification, there *is* a head honcho for this band, so to speak, it's his brainchild, and he brings in super top-notch musicians to not only play what he writes, but also to sort of... influence the direction and sound of the project. Their sound has taken on a handful of different forms over the years, but there're also *staples* to said sound throughout which makes it identifiable as Every Hour Kills haha. Been listening to these guys, on and off, for 5-6 years and I absolutely love 'em haha! Hope this clears things up?! P.s. I think Jei's name is pronounced "Jay"? I'll have to ask him to be certain haha... ✨ LET'S. GOOOOOO!!!!

Am newest addition to project and this is pretty accurate. Alan and I go very far back but it was only recently that we started collabing, and Acheron is the first track together. Lots of good stuff coming!
