Actually, the anime shows Pokémon mentoring each other to teach them new moves. For example, May’s Skitty did not learn Blizzard by using a TM, it was taught by a more experienced Delcatty. Therefore, it’s possible that the wild Mamoswine are a result of wild Piloswine learning Ancient Power from other wild Pokémon

I'd argue that Accelgor and Escavailer aren't impossible in the wild since a bunch of their Pokedex entries state that Karrablast's evolution was achieved by stealing Shelmet's shell and as a result of not having a shell, Shelmet adapted via evolving. I could see that happening in the wild as a normal thing and trading just achieves an artificial method of this phenomena.

i'm late to this video and someone's probably already mentioned this, but just in case... in the case of milotic, the prism scale doesn't outright replace the beauty evolution in later generations, it's just a second way to do it. you can transfer a beauty-maxed feebas from, say, RSE or DPPt up to later gens and levelling it up will still trigger its evolution, even if the game it's currently in doesn't have contests. thus, if we are assuming that a beauty evolution is possible in the wild in gens 3 and 4, we should assume the same for later games

My head canon (and it is partially backed up by DEX entries) is that Mammoswine was previously thought to be extinct until one with ancient power was revived. It’s pre-evos have been around for a while. However it had evolved to the point where it couldn’t turn into its final form anymore (i.e. the ones with ancient power died out). Once a researcher revived an old mammoswine, this one bred with its descendants. This one knew ancient power and was thus able to bring back the line to it’s original state.

Pokemon stop learning certain moves to stop certain evolutions as shown in Legends Arceus so someone found a frozen Mammoswine and brought it back kinda like they do with fossil Pokemon. That Mammoswine probably had Ancient Power and was bred to pass down the evolution genes to bring back Mammoswine as a species. I think the idea of the Ancient-Power- Evolutions, is that they are supposed to be ancient versions of those Pokémon who existed long ago in the wild, but do not anymore. Kinda like something between primal forms and fossil Pokémon. And a trainer teaching a Pokémon this move gives them the ability to return to that ancient form.

There is one another trade evolution possible in wild. That is shelmet and karrablast . Theory is when they are traded karrablast will try to hunt shelmet. The shelmet leaves it's shell to escape. And karrablast will use the shell and become escavalier. Which is possible in wild as shelmet is natural prey of karrablast.

I've always thought of Trade Evolutions as pokemon that need a LOT of excess energy to evolve, which trainers could easily achieve through the trade machine but is generally harder to come by in the wild. The idea of there being mysterious energy sources has been a thing since Gen 6 with Infinity Energy (or as early as Gen 5 if you count the Victini movies), so the fact so many Trade Evolutions can be found in SWSH, where there's Dynamax energy pouring out all over the place, makes sense to me.

The thing about Pokémon seeking out an evolution stone was also shown in one of the Sun and Moon anime episodes, where an Alolan Sandshrew evolves into Alolan Sandslash after finding an Ice Stone. I remember this because I think Lillie obtains an Ice Stone in that episode as well, to be used on her Alolan Vulpix Snowy sometime down the road. I think Max Raid Dens are almost like a separate dimension, which may be why so many impossible Pokémon appear in them.

Milotic at lake bottoms, Kingdra on seafloors, Huntail and Gorebyss obviously at the deepest depths of the ocean, and they all need to hold scales of some sort (Huntail needs a tooth but whatever, needs to differentiate from Gorebyss....) Maybe it actually has something to do with water pressure along with enhanced scales. This would also correlate to Steelix being noted as evolving from Onix under extreme pressure deep underground. Perhaps trading involves compression that simulates this? Also trading between games is canonically trading between alternate realities, or other worlds, which Dusknoir is noted as being able to travel between, so there might be something there.

Trade theory: could be that it's an emotional thing of losing a loved one without it being that pokemons choice. So if a pokemon has a strong relationship with anything and feels a loss due to death, Betrayal, any outside influence that causes a seemingly permanent loss if that relationship would cause it to feel permanently distanced from that object of its affection. The same would be said with a trade. So if it's an emotional change from trading that would make them possible wild pokemon.

I can't remember where but I remember there being an npc in xy who states some Pokémon that evolve by trading evolve due to the stimulations of electricity (implying the trade machine's electricity somehow artificially stimulates a Pokémon's genes). So it could actually be a case where at least some evolutions like machamp or gengar have a natural evolution method, but its so narrow or situational that trainers generally can't recreate them, but the trade machine artificially simulates. Steelix is likely a good example of this, since from gen IV onward wild steelix became a fairly common thing, because looking at the in-game history, it didn't become possible to evolve a trainer's onix into a steelix until the invention of the Metal Coat, a metallic paste that has to be applied to the onix's body (via item description) before trading to evolve it. It could totally be the case that the specific minerals in the metallic coat exist naturally but in rare or limited quantities, hence why gen I kantonian trainers were unable to have access.

Imo, Legends Arceus retroactively explains this away. Trade Pokémon once could evolve using actual Evolution items alone and in theory likely still can (or via using a certain move), but it became less and less a requirement for survival over time and trading then became something that would accidentally trigger the evolutions. It's likely that lorewise they still can use those items and/or moves, but Pokemon's obsession with forcing trading to be a requirement over an option is why they become trade-exclusives.
