To clarify my remarks on GVK, I’m aware that the plot has an explanation for Godzilla’s actions, that’s not the point I was making. I was expressing that the transition between films felt forced out of necessity for that film’s existence. My criticisms aren’t directed just at that film, but the concept in general. That said, I’m not diminishing anyone’s love for any film on this list. There’s a lot of films with different approaches to enjoy Thanks for watching :)

2005 King Kong is my favourite movie of all time Peter Jackson is so talented and loved Kong so much he put millions of his own money to get a bigger budget the CGI still holds up and the movement and expressions from Kong played by Andy Serkis have never been better definitely number 1 for me. 🦍❤️

I don't agree with everything said here, but it's pretty good argumentation. I would argue a few points. Nathan Lind in GvK is someone I think fits the Denham role really interestingly, where he is quick thinking and self serving, keeping Kong at a distance at first while exploiting Kong for his own selfish ends, but a character that learns to respect and take responsibility for Kong by being forced to save Kong in order to keep using him and ultimately choosing to revive Kong at great personal risk and little reward (Lind's own deepening bond with Ilene and Jia being crucial to that development as they gain respect for each other and he tries to save them from the Hellhawk as well as how he chooses to revive Kong at the end after seeing how sad Kong's demise made Jia. The changing context of the "coward" bit is really good writing I think and why I can never be bored with GvK). GvK technically did justify Godzilla's aggression with the presence of Ghidorah through the Mechagodzilla eyeball taunting him. But he's just as aggressive in GxK, and that film implies it is due to losing Mothra, but it comes off a little clunky because from 2019 to 2023 there was little indication of that as the reason for increased aggression, so I'm not really sure now what position to retroactively take. I appreciate the respect for Son of Kong. Denham's characterization is great, and my hot take is that if the Skull Island sinking subplot was actually established and explained, the ending of a dazed Denhan trying to atone for the death of Kong witnessing Kong's son climbing the island, sacrificing his life to save him would be a more powerful image than the Empire State crawl.

The first King Kong remake was always on tv in the 80's. I use to watch it all the time when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me each time.

Just realized that it took 12 years for another Japanese Godzilla movie to be released (2004 --> 2016). It took the same time for another King Kong movie to come out(2005 --> 2017). I learn something new every day.

I would say 1933 is my favorite because not only is it an amazing film, but also inspired me to get into filmmaking, so that's a reason to like the film. I also just think its a very fun film and i always find new details every time a watch it. Truly a masterpiece.

Yeah, that was a bizarre statement and really hurts his credibility. Godzilla isn't a villain at all in that movie, and the movie makes that clear early on, since we are supposed to be on Millie Bobby Brown's side.

1933 is still the best. Also my favorite. I own 3 copies, will buy it again if I see a copy I don’t own. 2005 is great.. too long. But still amazing. I enjoy 1962 King Kong vs Godzilla. But it’s totally insane! (I own the criterion Showa set). 1976.. I have almost nothing good to say about it. It’s not Dawn it’s Dwan.. that should say it all.

Personally speaking, the 1933 and 2005 movies are tied for the first spot for me, because while I think the 1933 movie might probably be the greatest cinematic achievement in history, the 2005 is, personally speaking, the perfect remake of a masterpiece. It's not trying to fix it, it's not trying to modernize, it is quite simply, an unadulterated love letter, made with the outmost passion and respect for the original

Madison is insufferable in GvK. It's kind of worse if you read the novelization because her Dad plays a bigger role in the story and just wants to give her the normal life a kid her age needs... away from Monarch and Godzilla. And she's constantly like "Screw you DAD! I can run around the planet investigating giant monster attacks... I'm practically a grown-up!". And that's on top of her treating her friend josh horribly. Her character really takes the movie down for me. This, and hearing Millies opinion on being in Godzilla movies makes me really glad they ditched her character.

I haven’t heard her opinions but I’m guessing they aren’t positive? I thought she was a decent enough in KOTM for whatever her role was supposed to be even though it felt like she was a marketing tool to reel in more audiences (not an uncommon strategy in movies by any means).

Sorry I was a fan of godzilla and king kong since a kid which is like almost 40 years. I absolutely hate the original kong vs godzilla. The new kong vs godzilla and godzilla x kong was alot of fun not boring and my kids saw it like a dozen times. They won't even watch a few mins of even the fight of the old one.

King Kong skull Island 2015 is my favorite it's just very fun and has amazing visuals and a decent story in my opinion it's by far the best followed by Peter Jackson's

LOL. Did this guy just say Kong 76 has really good special effects? Dear Lord, the 33 film from 43 years prior looks much better! The Academy was drunk that year! Japan understood how to do suitmation. Every Hollywood attempt always looked cheap.

Skull Island is the best Kong movie and is the best monsterverse movie followed by Godzilla 2014. They was grounded and had the best characters (especially skull Island). I don't care for this fast and furious style monsterverse. I like my unrealistic monsters to be as realistic as possible without a bunch of sci-fi outrageous garbage.
