You know considering R2-D2 has been a figure for as long as Lego's been doing Star Wars, it really hasn't change much...changes to the printing, a small change to the torso piece...thats it. I'm suprised they haven't made a special variant of this piece so R2 can have a head swivel. Not to mention a third leg piece would be nice after 23 years 😅

I personally prefer the original head print, not only for the shiny chrome silver, but because I always just found it more accurate looking size comparison wise. You could say that it looks "squashed" compared to the others, but I think the later versions look too "stretched." R2D2's head is much smaller compared to the rest of his body - and I think the original figure better reflects this. Just my opinion. It would be nice to get more R2 "emotion" sensor colors in the future!

I always preferred the original as well. Something about the new ones look off, like they are indeed stretched out as you put it. The white head with the shiny silver print also looks so much better to me as well. More aesthetically pleasing. Also feels more fitting for lego. It's cuter :) With that being said, i wouldn't mind making the print just a bit less squashed. Not as stretched as the new ones, but maybe so it's closer to 2/3rds of the head instead of 1/2. (or 1/3rd to 1/2. Something like that anyway)

There are some differences between the prints for 2008 and 1999 torso prints: The octagonal shape on the 2008 version is more to the left and lacks the blue thing the 1999 version has, some of the 2008 lines are a bit thicker, and the exhaust vents (or whatever they are, just the central things that look like exhaust vents/ports), along with the black lines on some opening covers, are on the left, not right.
