Fun fact: Stargazer is the only Gundam not intended for fighting but rather space exploration, it’s Solar Sail (or the Voiture Lumiere) captures solar wind energy and converts it into propulsion, which would enable it to accelerate indefinitely as long as it’s moving. However, it did end up being used in combat because the base was being attacked, and oh boy it’s fucking strong.

Elnora's sheer horror the moment she sees her toddler daughter has activated the most powerful weapon in history, contrasted with the frankly heartbreaking scene less than a minute before of her comforting said child after they're thrown into an active battlefield, with friends and family dying all around them. And everything is completed with the OST, emphasizing just how earth-shattering this moment is, how extremely WRONG this moment is. Eri has just been tossed into a life of war and suffering. Strike Freedom launch is my favorite. I remember first time seeing the upgraded full burst beam spam as a kid and I waited 11 years after that before finally getting a good 1/144 scale model of the full burst mode

the jump in quality from the original to zeta is really mesmerizing to see, the first episode of zeta got me hooked immediately just by seeing the visuals and knowing the history and cancellation of the original show. Good on sunrise for giving tomino another chance after its posthumous success, good on bandai for saving gundam, and good on tomino for sticking to his guns and doing what he wanted despite the pressure for toy sales. The world is all the better for it.
