Not almost all of the potagonists in Igloo/gravity front die horribel, and there death resulted in a minimal inpact on the war. The "gundan-tank" was seen as a failur and never put in production.

@kirgan1000 I can see why. It’s very durable and fast and its firepower is phenomenal. But, it looks like only someone who is just plain extremely talented can use it well enough to fight a mobile suit outside of an ambush. And ambushing isn’t reliable or consistent.

​@@midgetydeathit's not all that fast compared to something like Dom (or even Gouf) and it's only that maneuverable thanks to it's pilot being a godly driver. In practical terms, Hildolfr doesn't really fit anywhere - it has a high firepower long range cannon for long distances, but then what the point in having torso and arms? And also if it's meant to be ground assault vehicle thanks to it's speed and armour, it's main gun becomes a liability, since it's clearly meant for long range fire. Overall Hildolfr screams "we didn't know what we were really going for" and that's the point since it's meant to be a failed experimental project.

Given how much shit is left over from the 1YW, chances are it's still out there and possibly salvageable. All it would take is some scavenger party, Zeonic or otherwise, to find the battle site and pick it up. I can see a Works variant or even a engineering version being created if they don't wish to use the cannon, though I can see them mounting a huge-ass mega particle cannon in place of the 280mm cannon

重力下用のわけのわからん試作兵器を作りまくってるより、 ヒルドルブをさっさと量産してれば地上の戦いももう少し違ったかもな。 だって戦車や対空砲としての役目も果たせる上にとんでもない機動力があり、 変形すればMSの若くライフルも使い、 頑張れば白兵戦までこなせる。 地上戦ではこいつが一番兵器として無難なのかも。 砲身周りを改造するだけで遠距離狙撃に特化にも、 対空砲としての迎撃機能に特化にもできたろうし。 機動力の絶望的なガンタンクですら各地でそれなりに戦果あげたんだから、 ヒルドルブならもっと活躍できた可能性はある。 ジオンが一枚岩で戦えてさえいれば・・・。 地上はドムとグフとヒルドルブ、 水中はズゴック、ハイゴックなど、 空中はグフブライトタイプとガウ 一枚岩となってれば開発や配備が早くなって、 このような感じで強力な陣形をたもてたかもしれんのにな。

ヒルドルブは平地じゃないとウドの大木になっちゃうのがな… 機動力が無い代わりにある程度オールラウンダーに走破できるガンタンクとは違って、図体が前後左右にデカいヒルドルブは少しでも起伏や障害物があると運用できない。 砂漠＆歴戦の戦車乗りという最高のコンディションでもザク6機が関の山じゃ、どの道正式採用はなかったと思う

@@ヒロヌンティウス 大量生産でなくても、 砂漠みたいな活躍が見込める地域の部隊用に少数生産して配備すれば、 その地域においてはかなり活躍できた可能性はあるかなって。 劇中でも援護もなしに複数のザクと61式相手に最後は相打ちとはいえ、 敵部隊を全滅させましたからねぇ。 どうでしょう、 ヒルドルブ1機を後方支援、 グフ、ドムあたりを数機の編成ならかなり脅威な部隊になりそうですが？ ヒルドルブにはソンネン少佐並みの能力をもつ戦車に特化した人、 部隊全体の指揮はランバラルとかだったら・・・

重すぎて橋が渡れないという、ドイツ軍のティーガーみたいな設定もあるな。 潜水機能ついてたら川底を走って渡れるけど、「地球の事を知らない連中が机上の空論で作った」なんて設定の兵器だからついてないかも。

why the hell a tank would be sent in combat facing the oposite direction of the enemy, and how did the plane pass safely above enemy line to put tanks in front of them and if their location was behind enemy lines why they didn't take advantage of that

It was an ambush in friendly territory, all of the mechs are ally units hijacked by the enemy and the transport with the Hidolfr mobile tank going to a testing site was shot down after passing over. It dropped the tank as an emergency.

爆破解体しようにもコムサイに積まれているような弾薬じゃ難しかったのかもしれません。 倒したザクや戦車から弾薬をかき集めて吹っ飛ばそうにも弾薬を運搬する重機を呼んだりする余裕もなかったかと思われます。
