Legendary Legions have been a really fun way to keep adding more content to the game and I hope they keep making more. It's unfortunate we only got 1 dwarf LL this time around but hopefully we get more soon. I've pre-ordered Defense of the North and can't wait to go through it myself. Easterlings seem to be viewed poorly over here in the US for numerous reasons: lacking S4 (plus no war spears or lances for cav), the warriors are just "Warriors of Minas Tirith w/o Shieldwall", the Black Dragon upgrade is too expensive on top of shields and pikes, and the Dragon Knights are too vulnerable w/o Will and Fate.

Forgot to add this question, what do you think we'll get for the next supplement? It seems like they've covered most of the content but I did have an idea for a supplement: Ancient Battles of Middle Earth. It would be focused on events that happen well before the movies and main books but still have a large impact on the setting. There could be LLs for the Fall of Khazad-Dum, the War of Dwarves and Orcs, the Last Alliance, Barad-Dur directly under Sauron, Bullroarer Took and his hobbits, Arnor, and more. Additionally I would love to see more support for Khand and the Corsairs!

I am always surprised by this comparison I see it all the time. I reckon even before this supplement Easterling's are great. I think if people are playing them like Gondor and comparing them to Gondor they aren't utilising the Easterlings strengths so that probably why they are let down. Lets have a look at their strengths: - cheapest and best war drum in the game paired with march makes them one of the fastest infantry armies. (Their war drum is better than the Isengard and Mordor one because they don't impact everything in the list whereas the Easterling one does) -Pikes! Easterlings hitting power doesn't come from high strength, it comes from rolling more dice than the opponent. If you have 3 dice plus a banner to win the fight and 3 dice to wound you have so many dice that you 100% will be killing stuff. I see a lot of people use there pike like spears which is why they get let down and compare the army to Gondor. While it is hard to maintain a pike block this is where you board positioning and manuvering comes in handy. -The most durable/fastest cavalry in the game. The Easterling Kataphracts are impacted by the war drum and the drum is on a kataphract this means if you aren't engaging in combat you are moving 15" pair this with the glimering horde and even your horses are defence 6. This means a group of kataphracts is incredible for positioning in scenrio's like reconnoitre, seize the prize, storm the camp, capture and control, ect. I do agree they don't hit very hard but if you use them as a tech unit to get objectives they are amazing This was all before the upgrade now they have several more really powerful hero's and a fight 5 pike wall! It's going to be super powerful They definitely have plenty of weaknesses as well so I don't think they are the best thing ever, but they have won several tournaments down here in Australia

Great question! honestly no idea! they haven't teased anything yet so I reckon it might still be pretty far away. They will 100% do a supplement around the Last Alliance at some point in the future but I don't think it will be next. I would expect to see a fall of Arnor book in the future as well

@@ConquestCreations all very good points! I've been wanting to run Easterlings with Khand and hoped that the new LL would include them but alas it was not meant to be. I'm using Dunlending models for my Khand as in the books they seem to be based on the Varangian Guard of the Ottoman Empire: elite Norse mercenaries that served as the bodyguards of the Byzantine emperor.

Why no talk about Helm's Guard from War in Rohan? its a great LL even though its stuck in the appendix. If you want to rock the man, the myth, the legend: Helm 'Name-an-entire-unit-upgrade-and-sweet-fortress-after-me' Hammerhand this is the route to go! the legion restrictions are the same as Helm's personal restrictions (you cant use any Rohan hero with a name, just the Captains and Huntsman) and you lose the +1 Str on cavalry charges, but in return Helm is elevated to epic levels of power. What Helm gets out of this: Helm becomes a mighty hero (+1 free might a turn) and gets a Free heroic Combat each turn, which on a STR-5 big BURLY boy with a two handed sword and three attacks (4 if mounted) that boosts the fight value of his warriors within 6, causes terror from his warhorn when he charges and comes with a fine suite of Heroic actions, is going to tear up your foes warriors, and severely imperil his top tier heros. (fight 5 royal guard with spear support anyone?) also ala Theodred's guard throwing spears can be used as regular spears, making sure rohan stays a skirmish army without equal. Is it the best LL? No. Is it incredibly fun? Each and every time.

Riders of Rohan also count towards your bow limit in this LL which is quite annoying as you can’t spam as many riders as you wish!

Interesting to hear that you think easterlings were top tier prior to the latest release. All of the times I’ve played them, as well as having listened to other competitive streamers comment on their usefulness (DC hobbit league), they seemed incredibly underpowered. Like a much worse Gondor army. But fingers crossed with the new legion! Now if only I could find someone to purchase one of my organs so that I could afford the ForgeWorld sculpts….

Great run down, I've played Harad/Far Harad A LOT, and I think one of the hidden benefits of the LL is that you can balance out a Haradrim archer with something really good from FH, a half troll, or a mahud Raider. This means that you get a good points efficiently. That said, you miss out on the Betrayer and Abrakhân Guard, so worth it? I'm not sure...

Also, the whips are 2" range S1 throwing weapons that allow you to Whirl - so you can use Ruffians to charge into two models and "die slowly" while potentially killing models when you charge in. Also the +1 to hit with whips is big, since that +1 means you can shoot into Blinding Light with these guys on a 5+ (since your 5 becomes a 6).

You are totally correct he 2" does actually make a big difference. Whips will be a lot of dice rolling for very litle gain but its such a cool army still!

much as i love running dunland (its freakin awesome) jeremy's success in the conquest championship had as much (or more) to do with the player than it did the legion.(position play was clean, particularly vs easterlings/chariots) i reckon it sits solidly in good, too many vulnerabilities to go top tier. (only in competitiveness, definitely top tier for fun) vs elves in particular is really an uphill struggle, and there's always some pointy ears in a tournament.

Thus far in Australia there has only been one major tournament to ban legendary legions. I think the issues with them are only in 2-3 of the particularly bad ones (Vanquishers of the Necromancer and Black Riders). A lot of the legions are great and add a lot to the game such as Ugluks Scouts so very strongly disagree with banning all of them

Nice content, your videos have been very helpful. I first picked up LotR nearly a decade ago, but never really learned or played. I picked up Dwarf Rangers for a conversion that never happened and was basically given a Mines of Moria starter set. That said, due to my interest in Dwarves and Moria and things around that.....it doesn't seem like there is much here for me, which is a shame. Would love to expand out Khazad-Dum a bit, but...seem to not have any shiny stuff or any real support. I get that they didn't really showcase in the movies, but come on, DWARVES! lol

This video is about just the legendary legions which specifically are expanded rules to certain factions that are released in themed books the dwarves just haven't gotten on yet. Kazad dum remains one of the most popular factions! They have a big variety of models and heroes, there is a lot for you here! If you are interested specifically in the expedition into Moria you can play a Baking army where you are able to take all the dwarves that went into moria

They certainly don't get a lot of press about them, plenty of battle reports and discussion on Rohan, Gondor, and Morder, but the dwarves are a bit more quiet. lol Lack of spears and no green marked allies is also a pain, but you are right, they do have a decent amount of units compared to other factions. Will need to figure out ways around web store restrictions and finecast, but my guess is DnD minis might make for decent conversion fodder. Still just dipping my toe in, so we'll see how it fares as another project on the pile. lol

Really good. Just a suggestion, you could swap Orc Captain on Warg for Orc Shaman on Warg and/or swap Goblin Captain for Goblin Shaman, since Shaman models in "Assault On Lothlorien" count as heros of fortitude, so they can lead the 12 troops and they get their casting re-rolls

I'm excited for the Beornings list, but I think it'll be an underdog list, not a top-tier list. Reason being: there's no March and the Beornings, while 2 Wound models, are only D4. If Beorn goes rampaging off towards a lone enemy model, the banner bonus might not be where you need it. If those Beornings get caught without their help, the predominance of S4 armies (or S3 models with access to Piercing Strike) could get chopped to bits easily.

I haven't seen them in action yet but I am very confident that they are a top tier list. Beorn and Grimbeorn with monstrous charge are an absolute steal for 200 point and will be able to one shot most things in the game. You then have troops that for 20 points have 2 burly strength 4, fight 5 attacks so they wont be loosing many fights. Having 2 wounds makes them super durable. I would prefer a 2 wound D4 model to a 1 wound D7 model. When you compare them to other profiles 20 points is a great price. These guys are comparable to half trolls who I have use a lot and are insanely good. hey can also drop the burly for a strength 4 bow which is so awesome. At 500 points with 1 bear you still get 15 of them which is decent numbers. You do have to be careful of people manipulating Beorn but once you start fighting he will be charging every turn anyway so his rule doesn't impact him that much. I don't think it will be an easy army to use because it's still low model count but it has so much potential. This is a total side note and a controversial point. I do not consider March when list building. I think its the most over rated rule in the game. Even in my all infantry dwarf army even when I have it I find there is pretty much always a better use of the might

While I think I agree that the Grey Company is an underdog list, they're ironically quite good at low points levels (where their overflow of Might and cheap mini-heroes can be very difficult to hold down). Aragorn with Anduril is always dangerous, but if he's supported by the twins or Legolas and a TON of guys, he becomes even more so when you only have 1-2 heroes to deal with them. One of the guys in our group ran them at 550pts and never lost a game of Domination with Aragorn, the Twins, and 4 Rangers of the North because they could clear objectives very easily.

I’d argue that the resistant to magic rule going on azog in the pits legion over azogs legion is very useful as I’ve always found magic to be his biggest weakness. While it’s only a single D6, it gives you a fighting chance against a barrage of transfixing from the likes of saruman

Tournaments 100% should allow the legendary legion special rules. Its a special rule associated with the legion rather than the scenario. That is the new legion that I am most excited to play. the night time rule is really interesting because it impacts both armies negatively. Also shooting armies are so dominant that having armies that counter shooting heavy armies is really important

Man you’re so wrong about the Grand army of the south! It completely revolutionises Mumak based games. Heroic Strike on a Mumak is insane, because your opponent either avoids the Mumak with their big hitter, or you get a free strike against them. It’s amazing! Also, harbinger of evil on Mumakil! @@ConquestCreations I definitely would, it’s podiumed at tournaments here in the UK, and has done well even under my command 😂 I suppose it may depend on how terrain dense your boards are though. The winning build is Warleader and Suladan, then bows on the howdah and serpent riders on the floor. More people on the Mumak than out, so to break you need to take on a Mumak who can deny heroic moves and strike against your leader! A scary prospect for most armies!

My 2 issues with legendary legions are 1: it kinda limits army creativity cause you get more out of playing this combination than a creative one And 2: my fav units are black numenoreans + morgul knights who get no legendary legion😭

There are quite a few hard to use fun armies that don't break the bank! A super hard to use one that is the cheapest is Throin's Company, after that I would have a look at rangers/grey company, and maybe the Attack of Lothlorien army. You can find moria goblins out there cheaply and there are so many alternative models for bats and spiders

The game is still growing. This is the top of a lot of people's wish list. It will definitely come it just isn't out yet. That being said I don't think it need a legendary legion because you are able to ally Numenor and Rivendell already and play the last alliance

men of the west is so bad. there's only one way i can see to build it that doesnt suck ass compared to just running the normal factions, and even that only really works at one points level. at 750, you run elessar with 18 spear warriors (probably 12 bow, 6 shield but can adjust.) and imrahil with 18 knights. have to run knights cause it lets you make the most of aragorns fight boost, (F6 warriors near imrahil). gondor warriors give you decent supports/numbers (38)/bows/defence. alright on might at 6 with aragorns free ones, all fearless. both heroes are banners.
