Outsiders will point to Maldonado and understandably so, but he at least helped a handful of prospects stick in the rotation by his time of departure. Miguel Vargas was actively the worst everyday player on the team and it wasn't even close. Can't hit, can't get on base regularly, endangers people in the field despite being stashed at 3B, doesn't communicate on any play leading to multiple failed relays and errors... One of the worst trade headliners in recent memory
@Wolf-wc1js11 күн бұрын
@@DjDrake_8as a Dodger fan I gotta agree with you there. I never understood the hype for him when he first started playing in the majors and when he was dealt at the trade deadline, I remember a ton of Dodger fans being disappointed that he was traded. I remember knowing it was an acceptable trade for getting back Edman and Kopech and that was way before Edman took home NLCS MVP. My rationalization when the memes came out about him being depressed for being traded to the White Sox was that he wasn’t hitting, fielding and had no clear position locked on the Dodgers and trading him landed us a switch hitting gold glove utility player and a flame throwing setup man/closer

He’s still new to the bigs. It’s there, he has the stuff, but he still has to put all of it together and find his groove. Scherzer had the same issue in Arizona. A lot of the reason Stripling did so poorly was because of inexperienced catching. He lost his command of his fastball pretty frequently, but would gain it back towards the later half of his starts. An experienced catcher would call breaking balls off the tunnels established by his wild fast balls, until he got the fast ball command back and then use fastballs to close out at bats in later innings. Even with an experienced catcher, and good coaching, he would have been worse than most starters.

That's better than half the other players that have just walked from the Rockies with no return because we don't trade our good players we let em walk. Gah, I was on the DJ Stewart train when he was drafted by the Orioles. Seeing him live (on TV) was just awful. Kimbrel was good... He fell off a cliff about the ASG to his subsequent DFA'ed. All in all, the Orioles fired 3 of their "hitting" coaches/bench coaches. Their crappy hitting approach was not up to par. From the tail end of the first half to the end of regular season to the playoffs, we stunk. Personally, I would like to see the team use a small ball strategy along with the HRs/extra base hits. Nearly all the guys not named Rutschman have some decent speed. Hit and run, stealing bases to manufacture runs. Sure, not as fun as HRs but they all count regardless.

See Bobby Miller at least has an injury as an excuse. Outman has no excuse.

The funny part was Kyle Hendricks was serviceable, after his first month which was dog shit. I’d assume it’d go to Miguel Amaya but him not playing the entire year probably didn’t cause that to happen

I watched this for my team knowing exactly who my team’s worst player would be. What’s wrong with me.

I still think Edgar Martinez's 1995 was better cause yes even tho it was shortened it was still 145 game which he played every game of and had a 1.107 ops and walked more than he struck out, also I feel it's slightly unfair to call ohtani a pure dh since he is physically capable of playing the field whereas the best two DHs in Martinez and Ortiz could not really

I recommend looking up the definition of "penultimate". It means second to last. I don't think it's the word you want to use to describe the White Sox

Dylan Carlson is frustrating A moderately fast power switch hitter with a good glove None of that stayed in the majors with the cardinals and it played a role in trading players like Randy arozarena and Tyler o Neil and not hanging on to Adolis Garcia

It's a nitpick, but I'd say Chris Stratton was far worse than Will Smith this season. After his awful start, Will started to figure stuff out. Mid-season, he was legitimately one of our top 3 or 4 relievers. Stratton was never even close to usable.
