I like the theory that most of the mythology characters were Nephilim between Adam and Eve and the flood.

Makes no sense.Most mythologies are much older than the judeo-christian tradition.

Actually the idea of nephilims is not even "pure" Judaism is just Judaism with Greek-Roman influence in the period of the second temple Judaism

honestly though calling the aztec ancient would be like calling the conquistadors ancient, they both were contemporaneous, not ancient at all.

Quite a bit wrong with the Yoruba mythos... Olorun is the "Pre-Creator" god [and is actually genderless], and the trinity actually more directly consists of Olorun, Olodumare [masculine creator] and Eleda [feminine creator], with Olofi more belonging to the Orishas, than the supreme god head. While there IS an incarnation of Earth's creation story involving Obatala [King of the Orishas], this story is more commonly associated with Orunmila the god of the Priesthood and is the high priest of heaven. Lastly, the main goddess of the waters is Olokun, the goddess of the oceans, while Yemoja, is the goddess of rivers, but also other landlocked bodies of water. [BTW, the "J" makes a regular "j" sound, only in Santeria, Obeah and Candomble is the "J" pronounced with a "y" sound]

I know you didn't mean any harm by it, but "Native American mythology" is greatly overgeneralizing. It's like saying "white mythology" and including astrology and Marvel movies.
@MrChristianDTКүн бұрын
Yeah, there's at least 13 different religions, there. Some are harder to research than others, but it's doable.
@thelongestjohnКүн бұрын
@MrChristianDT Well, you can just divide it in proximity of the natives, since their religions overlap depending on how long ago the people diverged from each other. Like I'm Hopi, but I wouldn't mind my people's folklore and religion were just briefly mentioned amongst other Uto-Aztec/SouthWestern tribes since we're so similar.
@MrChristianDTКүн бұрын
@@thelongestjohn Yeah, that does work for most of them. You can definitely get a good picture of Algonquians that way, whereas they only seemed to have had some minor differences (east coast having this idea of leaving the turtle to a new land, that being destroyed & them coming back. Montagnais season change story being about 2 brothers, but Anishinaabeg being about an old man in the north & a young woman in the south.) I think the only one that doesn't work for is Siouan, because they split into so many different micro-groups at some point, each distinct groups' religious beliefs don't really add up. That, & you can't use other Iroquoian or Muskogean religions to get a good understanding of Cherokee beliefs, though you can see where a lot of the inspirations come from, on both sides.

But white mythology is mostly the same everywhere. They all had a "great father in heaven" like zeus, odin/thor, ukko, wotan etc and spirits of nature. German, finnish, greek etc religion is mostly the same. Mentioning marvel is just ragebait
