Always found it fascinating that the Empire theme sounds a major triad, and yet we all hear it as minor, i.e. Em root, and the melody is EEEECGE

I think this is the first time I every truly grasped why classical and jazz music idioms use different music theory language to describe the same kinds of chord qualities, and how musical set/transformation theory can be used to describe how these differences are the ways in which a musical idiom reinforces its particular types of tonality. Thanks for this one mate!

I remember seeing a really great example of this awhile ago. I believe it's from Brecker's solo on Chromazone - basically using a major 3rd on a minor 7th chord but juxtaposed as a #9.

What a great lesson on Tritones and how chromatics create a delicious piece of cake, whether plain or fancy, classic or jazz.

Not related to this video quite so much, but out of your two altissimo books which one would be best for bari? I’m quite unfamiliar with that world myself but I’ve heard though the grapevine that 1. Bari runs very flat in altissimo and at certain point becomes a half step wrong as compared to alto, and 2. Bb and Low A horns have some differences up there. What do I need to know as bari player?

I've been hesitant to elaborate on baritone saxophone stuff because I don't have one. However, I hear from tenor players that double on bari that the tenor books works very well
