Every Optimus and Megatron TEAM UP -- and WHY the alliance FAILED!

The BRILLIANT Transformers one has shown everyone Megatron's descent into fanaticism and it made me wonder why, considering the AMOUNT OF TIMES THEY'VE BEEN FORCED TO WORK TOGETHER, why he and Optimus Prime have never been able to make an alliance last beyond the short term.
Lets go through the continuities, and do Every team up I can find and try to figure out why each one collapsed.

I'm happy to hear you loved the movie, my man, I just watched it yesterday, and I still can't get it out of my head because the trailers did not do this movie justice. The movie genuinely may be the best Transformers movie ever made, and the way they portrayed Optimus and Megatron's friendship and downfall was so masterful and down right heartbreaking

My takeaway from this is Starscream is literally the worst. Not the evilest, just the worst. 9:17 It also wouldn’t be much of a leap to assume he picked up on some things in the literal aeons of fighting they’ve been through

You didn't mention the original ending of the Dark Side of the Moon, where Megatron and Prime signed a truce, as their joint battle reminded of the times when they were brothers. Megatron got tired of the war and recalled the Decepticons to find and restore Cybertron. At parting, he told Optimus that he would be welcome on Cybertron.
