In today's video me (persona master) and one of my best friends @juv_ie go through all the main battle themes from the Persona series. We had a really fun time filming this tier list and I definitely plan on making more of these this year!!!

i actually plan on doing that soon! gonna put it on the back burner for now because i plan on shifting my focus on persona 3 reload for a bit, but i have plenty of persona videos planned! HOOH BOY do I have some hot takes on the battle themes. First, Last Surprise is a banger absolutely but it isn't great as a battle theme. It's a bit slow and when you ambush battles you often finish before getting to the chorus which is where it starts to get really hype. Again, good song and I have to give it credit for being the first Persona song I've ever heard and thus getting me into the series, but as a battle theme I prefer Take Over for just being a faster paced song. Next, despite how much I adore Persona 4, I don't actually listen to its battle themes too much. When I'm in game they work well, especially Reach Out to the Truth being the ambush theme in Golden, but thinking about them doesn't inspire me to go out of my way to listen to them. Finally, Light the Fire Up in the Night is peak. Some of the best Lotus Juice rap, fantastic choruses from both Yumi Kawamura and Shihoko Hirata and possibly my personal favorite battle theme lyrics. They both have upsides and downsides, I think the opening instrumentation in P3's version are better but P4 has the better chorus and everything else is about equal. Q2 also has incredible battle themes, Wait and See is probably my favorite and then the other three are all interchangable. The only critique I have of Q2's battle themes is that we were robbed of a P5 version for Light the Fire Up in the Night.

Some corrections EP ps1 was actually released in English but not IS Also ngl the ps1 battle theme for p1 is a lot less grating over long periods of time, sure lone prayer sounds fine but the battles in p1 tend to end in a a couple seconds so you'll be hearing those first couple seconds a lot combined with the high encounter rate (it's actually lower in Revelations)

6:28 Persona 2 Eternal Punishment on PS1 was released in the West it was the PSP Version of Eternal Punishment that was Japan only. We only got Persona 2 Innocent Sin in the West via the PSP remake since the PS1 Version was Japan only.

slight correction, we did get both versions of p2 localized, just in a weird way, we got p2 EP PSX, and we didn't get the first part of the story for years until p2 IS PSP released, also for Mass Destruction -Reload- that is the second verse, and the original did have the frog noise, it was just a lot quieter, then Dancing released and made it more of a prominent sound
