Now, I can shoot directly in B&W with my viewfinder, which should make a real difference. Thanks for keeping the creative energy alive-excited to dive in!

Nice work, love B&W and totally agree how it changes how you see your world when shooting in B&W. Same thing if your shooting for color but in B&W, makes perfect sense to shoot in the mode your trying to create and not just try to recreate in post. Thanks.

Hey Terry, I’ve always liked B&W photography, but have always done it in post. As a result, like you said, I wasn’t really composing with B&W, but just adding a “filter” afterwards. My results were always meh:( My camera will allow me to see through the viewfinder in B&W, so here we go! Thanks for always bringing the spark to keep us creating. All the best, Bob

Enjoyed the color grade / look and feel of this video. You’ve got me wanting to pull out my old Nikon D40 to see if I can take B&W on it. Thinking I can’t on my Sony but I’m going to take you up on this challenge Terry! Fantastic video.

I had a wedding gig where the clients wanted real time sepia prints in the style of wanted posters kinda like a "photobooth 4x6 santa photo" (Montana chic wedding) so I filmed in RAW but had the JPGs set to sepia. this allowed me to see them as sepia in the viewfinder and have hard copies in 30 seconds but still had room to edit however I wanted... 1 week later, I delivered sepia/B&W/color prints to the bride... The bride said we were more expensive than the roving photographers but ran circles around those other photographers because EVERYONE got a print on the way home.

Love these videos. Thank you. Constructive suggestion: when you use your hands while your communicating, it is so much more natural. When you hand hold a mic, you look restrained. I like watching the real Terry, not the news reporter. Keep them up, I’m really glad I subscribed

B&W classics, I agreed with it. I've done B&W films back in school years which took the classes. Still get it today era. Smartphone, tablet, and digital cameras will have on B&W modes (or settings). Whether contrast, composition, and drama feels into. Especially astrosphere in the shot. As well as storytelling. Like it a pieces of art work. 📷

As much as I love cars I’m about burnt out on taking photos of them. Especially since I work so much and don’t have a chance to see different stuff. I’m gonna try B&W photography. It looks like what I’ve been needing.

Back in the day you had a color “real world” viewfinder but B&W film in the camera. In the darkroom we would develop the prints with more or less contrast when exposing the photo paper.

This is great ... I love shooting black and white, and I'm always surprised that so few people seem to do it. I agree with every point you make here. Oh, sure, I shoot color too, but I often will shoot a scene in both color & b/w. It's especially easy with my Fuji x100vi and it's ability to do film simulations in camera, and the fact that it shows you black & white in the EVF or the LCD screen, whichever you use to compose.

I'm going to do this the next show I shoot in a dark venue with that unfortunately popular/contemporary magenta, red and blue LED lighting. I dropped the color data from my last shoot in post, and everything looked better. Will allow me to just focus on the highlights, contrast, and composition.

Was the 40mm used? I bought the zf with the 50 1.8 because I do a lot of paid head shot work, but it’s just too big for everyday fun stuff. Trying to decide between the 40 or 28. Btw, I did some headshots while traveling with the zf and 50, by far easily my favorite portraits of all time. Been shooting professionally part time for the last 20 years and had some high profile shoots in my time; and the zf in b&w with that lens was just magical.
