It's crazy to see how big the playoff facial hair got on everyone (Except Nuge who is just trying his best )... the Florida series really felt like a whole season's worth of content and I'm so proud of the fight we showed all season and post season

I can’t wait until after McDavid leads the Oilers to a cup in 2025, and then Canada to a gold medal in 2026. Then the only doubters will be crickets

You'd think if anything, the Panthers would know exactly how the Oilers feel, given they had heartbreak in 2023 and got the cup in 2024... Hopefully the same happens for us Oilers though. Hearbreak in 2024 and a cup in 2025? That would be fantastic and I'd love to see them bring the cup back to Canada and get some of that city of champions glory alive again

Coming from a Canucks fans perspective McDavid is the combination of Pavel Bure and Henrik Sedin if you fused those 2 together. The no look passes are crazy

I totally agree with McDavid getting the Conn Smythe this year. No argument there, even though I am sure Bobrovsky was the runner up, or close to it. Not accepting it, however, is quite another matter. That says a lot...and I wonder how that's going to settle with the fans.

I disagree about McDavid accepting the trophy for a couple reasons: #1- He isn't going to go out and accept it smiling so he would have looked miserable and butthurt and people wouldn't have liked that either. (and if he would have accepted it with a smile that would have felt disrespectful to the rest of his team). #2- He is the captain. Not a goalie who played amazing and kept his team in the playoffs. He is one player on that team and the captain. His team just lost the most coveted trophy in sports and he's really supposed to go and accept an individual trophy for himself. Again, he is the CAPTAIN. He did what he should have done which was grieve with his team. Anyways, that's my opinion. Curious if any of my thoughts made you see this from a different perspective. :)

@@KaylaManda333 I do agree, but only partially. As Captain, it is up to him to set the good examples, especially with the public. The professional thing would be to proudly accept accept it and offer a 'thank you' to all people involved. I can't recall when a player on the losing team (I'm not being sarcastic here) did NOT accept the trophy. It just looks bad. True, he should be with the team, but the time for grieving comes later. He should have shown his appreciation to the Oilers fans; not just the ones back home, but the ones that were there in the Panther's arena. Just a thought, really...no debate.

@@flipflopping i haven't seen a single fan take issue with his decision because it was a perfectly understandable one given it being minutes after the biggest loss of his professional career, anyone with a little empathy should be able to excuse that. of the few players who have ever been awarded the CS on a losing team, giguere is literally the only one to have ever been presented it on the ice and he's talked in interviews for years about what an awful moment it was. i think the whole discussion around this is a little overblown for what seems pretty straightforward

Good point. Ceci is much batter than McDavid. That’s the point you’re making, no? Otherwise, you could make the argument that Ceci is better than everyone except for Carter Verhaeghe, Erod, Lundell, Janmark, and Kulikov, and only Verhaeghe is better than him.

So much hype around the assist record for a single post-season, yet the only reason he set a new record is that Gretzky only took 19 games to win the cup while setting his record. About as pointless as winning the Conn Smythe as a Final loser.
@michaelshields6326
@michaelshields6326 Ай бұрын
Look at league scoring then compared to now. It's gone up a lot the last 7-8 years but it's still nowhere near as high as it was in the 80's. To be able to beat Gretzky's record is an unbelievable achievement no matter how many games it took. No one besides Lemieux has ever come close.

Barkov 100% deserves the Smythe. He faced off directly against Kuch, Pasta, and Panarin. In the first three series the star players of Tampa, Boston, and the Rangers combined for a whopping 1 goal when Barkov was on the ice. In three series. He utterly shut them down and that’s monumental. But normies look at how many points are scored like that’s the only thing relevant to a hockey player. Oh yeah and Barkov actually lifted the cup
