Bouffalant was actually the Pokemon seen in the beginning and through other parts of the film, not Tauros, as far as I can tell. Easy mistake to make, they look very similar.

I dunno, I've also only seen it once. -The Ryan Reynolds apartment building has a stylized neon sign on the side spelling out "OAK" and I'll be shocked if that's not a reference to the Gen 1 professor.

Seeing Ditto in action morphing into other Pokemon and humans was great. Jigglypuff singing was classic as it makes everyone fall a sleep. Squirtle Squad working the fire fighters was a nice homage to the anime show during the 2000s. Snorlax sleeping on the street was based of the anime as Snorlax was blocking the Water passage. Psyduck and his headache.

The Ditto keeping its eyes while transformed was a nod to an early episode of the show where a trainer's Ditto had trouble fully transforming and couldn't get the eyes right. It was probably more done just to avoid confusion during that action sequence but likely also a reference.

If I remember well, it was Bouffalant that was seen at the very beginning, not Tauros. And the bad guy's Ditto also turns into a Bouffalant at the end. And I've definitely seen several Sneasel, but no Weavile. Missed Kingler, tho. And I think the statues in Clifford's office are Palkia, Dialga and Arceus. And at the very end you can also briefly see a Venusaur. And I don't know if that actually was a reference, or just a coincidence, but the first time Tim and Pikachu meet Howard Clifford, he evolves an Eeevee into a Flareon. And during TwitchPlaysPokemon, Flareon was known as "the False Prophet". I'd like to think that it's a clue pointing at the fact that Clifford is the actual antagonist of the movie.

Just saw the movie for the first time and I actually thought that Team Rocket could’ve been the ones behind the serums since they are known for just having an R as their logo but then it’s revealed that they weren’t even in the movie unless you count Mewtwo (Team Rocket’s creation)

Here's a few that you missed: -The town's layout at the beginning is a nod to the games, with everything being so close by. -Pikachu kicking a Magikarp to make it evolve it a nod to James doing the same thing in the anime -Ditto not being able to transform his eyes when he changes is also taken from the anime. -Jigglypuff holding a green microphone (wich doubles as a marker) is from the anime. -The drug being called R could be a reference to Team Rocket, although it might just be what the drug is also called in the game I don't know I never played it. -The Squirtles being firefighters is also from the anime

One thing I noticed: at the beginning of Detective Pikachu, Mewtwo says either "They're outside" or "He's outside" (can't remember exactly which) as he opens his eyes, which seems to be a direct reference to Mewtwo's awakening in Pokemon the First Movie, where wakes up and goes "They're outside. In the beginning of the film, when Tim is watching the video on the train, there's footage that recreates the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Superbowl Commercial, which was also used to gage how fans would react to seeing Pokemon and real actors on screen. I watched the Pokémon show when I was younger but not a lot, and never played the games, so I’m not a huge fan like many people are, but I clicked this video anyway coz I’m like “ay I know that this is gonna be entertaining even if my Pokémon knowledge isn’t that substantial” and then Ben came up as the narrator and I was like “oh, a change of flavour, ok, not what I was expecting” & still had a lot of fun. I think it speaks to the entire team of people that work on this channel that you can take something that I’m only vaguely interested in, put in a person that I only really know from 1 video in like January, and still make it very fun, entertaining, and enjoyable. Props to all of you, especially the people behind the scenes who rarely get the recognition that you deserve.

I loved that Ikue Otani voices Pikachu whenever we heard it speaking... Pikachu, lol. Since they didn’t ask the voices from the TV show to voice other Pokémon, I was very happy to hear her voice! Also, I thought that the balloons were a reference to the Macy’s Parade at Thanksgiving, since Pikachu has had a balloon there a few times (really, I was just happy to see a Lugia balloon).

I believe I saw a Lugia balloon during the Pikachu-Mewtwo fight scene. The scene of the Bulbasaur retrieving Morelull reminded me a lot of Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden, but I doubt it was a reference.
