The kids are excellent at offering emotional support. I hope they can go to her too when they are worried and it's not one sided with the mother using the children for emotional support, undermining their sense of safety and forcing them to grow up too soon, which is quite common unfortunately. Hopefully this drama will get picked up and we can see the characters develop

Beckme neurotic is one possibility to be sure, but, on the other hand, they all seem to be bringing a fair ammount of stoicism to a situation they think is a nightmare. It is, in its own way, a stiff-lipped British family.

What's worrying is the element of truth in this sketch. Watched a 20 something woman having a meltdown in whole foods Kensington,because the walnut bread in bakery section was still 10 minute from being cooked Her words..."but I want it now!!" and the poor guy serving said,do you want it uncooked?? I knew a guy from Newcastle at Oxford... to my ear he had a pretty strong accent, but easily understandable. He once told us that when he went home he sometimes had trouble understanding the taxi drivers, because their accent was so broad it was even incomprehensible to other people born and bred in Newcastle. I had a customer who used to shout loud at Tesco, every weekend that she is driving 40 miles just to buy super duper Organic, Ecologic Golden Milk and we still haven't got it! She puts her time and effort (a lot of petrol and exhaust fumes) to be green and posh and we (filthy pigs from the working class) are letting her down every weekend again and again. Someone said this milk is usually available all week and gets reduced on Friday so maybe she wants to pop in on Friday, to grab a bargain?I swear, she almost died. Got purple, fumy and shaky and said she has NEVER, EVER, IN HER ENTIRE LIFE bought a REDUCED item! She was a good laugh

I had a lady, A Lady, about 99, on her own, sailing through the shop at her own pace, silver hair, stacked up in a shape of a wedding cake, in very elegant clothes. She stopped and asked me ''Where is our greengrocery'? I got confused for a second and pointed out the produce section when she killed me with her eyes as said 'I don't know where are you from my darling, but where I live it is still called 'greengrocery'. She must have meant The Moon.

A friend of mine is really like that . Her big concern every day was what kind of music she will select to ambiance her swimming pool which anyway 99% of the time had no guest to entertain except her . And then when she discovered Spotify and Alexa it was like a sort of a revelation !

@Curtis Jefferson Unfortunately we had a failing out about what weekend holiday destination could bring out oppressed thoughts in children. I suggested the south west coastal area of France and they suggested the Austrian alps, it all got very confrontational.
