Then again, Harlan Ellison was a contestant once, and when he wrote about it he didn't mention anything like that, and he would have jumped at the chance. (When asked where he'd take his date on a first date, his answer ended with their going to the City Dump to shoot rats. He didn't get picked, for some reason.)
