I love the Sands of Time trilogy and its charm, but Ubisoft did a great job with this new Prince of Persia game, it really is one of the best and one of the best metroidvania, a good surprise.

WW will be my favorite of all time because of how uncertain the story was. Others had pretty straightforward stories like Unwind time, kill Vizier. The heavy music tone suits the dark theme very well. SOT used to be my fav until I played WW and loved all the combat system and gore. If prince from SOT was teen girl’s boy, the WW prince was teen boys idol.

Warrior Within is my absolute favourite game in the series. Yes, it was darker and scarier than the first game, but that really worked for the story and theme. Not to mention that Warrior Within had better combat mechanics than Sands of Time. Also, The Forgotten Sands deserves better. Sure, it wasn't the best game, but it felt like a return to form compared with that god-awful 2008 reboot

I’ve been a fan of the Prince of Persia series since the Sands of Time Trilogy. I’m impressed with The Lost Crown, and I didn’t mind about the protagonist not being a Prince, which kinda reminds me of The Legend of Zelda series, whom the main character has been Link and not the titular character.

I'll say this. I think forgetten sands is a little underappreciated. Yes, the story isnt that great, and the hack and slash like gameplay isn't as engaging as combat in previous games, but, the platforming segments were amazing, and it had one of the best final levels i have ever played in a game. The prince is literally, jumping and platforming while in a sandstorm. Not to mention, the prince is just as charming as ever. His dialogue is always a pleasure to listen to.

I mostly agree with these kinds of vids. But I really try to understand why people think Sands of Time is better than Warrior Within. That game surpassed Sands of Time in every way: Extremely improved combat, More weapons, longer, more parkour, better story, the Dahaka, cool prince design, the darker atmospher with the Godsmack soundtrack (can understand that people prefer the classic but it was still loved by many).

Fair list. Sands of Time remains unmatched, it's just so magical and brilliantly crafted. In my personal rank I'd put the 2008 in second, I love it so damn much. And unfortunately I haven't played the Lost Crown yet, but I will eventually, definitely. Can't wait.

Fun fact: Assassin's Creed was originally planned to be a spinoff of the PoP series, where you play as the bodyguard of the prince, but then it god changed into its own series. There's a video floating around that showed a demo of a potential sequel a while back, which was then changed to develop AC3.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for the Wii is completely different from the awful PC/PS3/XBOX360 version. It's a fantastic game.

I’ll just say it about Sands of Time: the combat is lackluster. There was no variety on how to take down enemies beyond springboarding off their back and sucking them into the dagger. The rest of the game was fantastic.

Warrior within is my 1 as well. The story, action combat and metal soundtrack made it a masterpiece for me. Also just the sight of Dakaha made my adrenaline levels spike.

It's just breathtaking and I still quote the intro: you think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction, but I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you they are wrong. The most punishing thing about the original 2 games was definitely their global time limit (which continued ticking through deaths/attempts). An artifact of its time, yes, but still. (Were something like that done today, I imagine each level could be timed independently, replayed as needed to improve your time, and your best time per level would inform how much time you have to complete the remaining levels.)

I'm gonna get a lot of dislikes for this but I don't understand why people rate Warrior Within so highly. I played through all the games post-Sands of Time last year, and Warrior Within was terrible. It's riddled with bugs, has annoying enemies, and has one of the most useless maps I've ever encountered which completely undermines the non-linear/backtracking design of the game. I thought the story was alright but I'd rate 2008's story better than it just for the ending alone. And for combat I'm sorry but I'm taking Two Throne's combat system and stealth kills over Warrior Within's glitchy combat.

Just one reason: Kickass heavy metal music dude. It just suits a lot to the dark tone. If prince from SOT was teen girls dream, WW prince was teen boys idol. And the story in SOT was pretty straight from beginning. Just undo what was done. WW had the best story that gets you engaged throughout the game. Who was that masked guy? Why that Shadee encountered you. Who is Kaileena. Once you get that you are going to die mid game, you found out there is still a hope in that mask. Go back to save your ass yourself. Man, that game’s story was the reason I got strength to overcome my bad times during early 2000s.

It’s kind of hard to compare the MetroidVania one to the classic PoP because they’re both great in their own ways.. I’d have put Forgotten Sands much higher because it basically followed in the footsteps of the best one Sands of Time.. As did Two Thrones.. Warrior Within is dark & gritty.. Very challenging.. I’d think the Soulsbourne fans of today would find a lot to like with it especially if they bring it back after the SOT remake.. I’d have to say the Prince may well be my favorite gaming main character.. This series along with its spinoff AC and perhaps God of War may be the game equivalent of those good ol action adventure movies of days gone by like Clash of the Titans and Jason & the Argonauts

My personal (opinion) list: 11) Battles of Prince of Persia 05, 10) Prince of Persia 3D 99, 9) Prince of Persia: The Fallen King 08, 8) Prince of Persia 89, 7) Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame 93, 6) Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Wii) 10, 5) Prince of Persia: Warrior Within 04, 4) Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones 05, 3) Prince of Persia 08, 2) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 03 and 1) Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown 24. I'll probably get hate and that's fine. I truly love The Sands of Time just as much as (maybe even more) anyone in the Prince of Persia fanbase, but I cannot be blinded by a great story, a revolutionary game for its time, my love for the series, bias and nostalgia for the title. The title's fighting mechanics and camera system are outdated and not very fun for today's standards. If Ubisoft Montreal can deliver us a remake that we all are asking for, I'll gladly let the remake take the #1 spot. Until then, The Lost Crown is such a triumph and it's a f***ing blast! My kids and I adore the new title so much and we simply cannot get enough of it! I am so grateful to Ubisoft Montpellier for executing a top 5 MV, quite possibly a game of the year (and it's only January) and the rebirth of Prince of Persia. It's such an awesome time to be a fan again!

Nothing will ever top the sands of time trilogy. The lost crown was definitely a fun game but it’s a shame how new games in the series from this point on will only be 2D style. Still better than nothing however. I’ll still take them.

I also have to mention I was playing Half-Life 2 around the time I was playing Warrior Within so maybe this was one of the reaaons why I didn't like Warrior Within as much because HL2 was better and more enjoyable to me.

I actually picked up Warrior Within on PC not too long ago. I heard that the Prince says "YOU BITCH!" at one part which is pretty hilarious. There was a 3D Prince of Persia in the 90s? I heard that the DS Assassin's Creed games also sucked. Everything is Stylus based? It wasn't that good when Zelda did it >_< (aside from the Tingle games). I could not play the old Prince of Persia. It's difficult to control and I had no idea how to fight when I skipped to another level. I should probably play the remake if I ever plan on playing it. What is with people hating cell shading in the early 2000s? I guess I picked a good game if Warrior Within was good. Didn't know Sands of Time was considered the best one which I did play. Why was Lost Crown getting a lot of hate again? Prince of Persia Sands of Time was Assassin's Creed before Assassin's Creed. Over 20 years later?! Old 👴...
