Was really excited abt participating in the 2025 popsugar challenge after being disencouraged by this year's list bcs of prompts like the kpop one (i simply wont read ir bcs i kmow i won't enjoy it) and they come up with this last line prompt. I refuse to be spoiled by the last line in a book for a reading challenge 😭

Totally get what you mean, sometimes they really give the game away. You could fit in a re-read here though?

I have not looked at the PopSugar list in so long. This one seems interesting. I have thought of a few books on my shelves that I keep meaning to get to that fit this list. Thanks for going over this!

@ToCoziesAndBeyond you're so welcome! It seems like this year is a bit more open than last year at least

I have already read the resort recommendations because I love a romance set at a resort apparently. 😂 I will be reading the thriller The Guest List for that one.

That's also such a great book! Not just cos it has an Aoife in it
@jimsbooksreadingandstuff20 күн бұрын
Good luck with the challenge, Aoife. For a book in the title, there is 'Not in my Book' by Katie Holt, which sounds a bit like Beach Read, as it is about two rival authors, who are forced to write a book together, it comes out on December 10th, I read the e-ARC.

@@jimsbooksreadingandstuff oooh that sounds rather like my kind of book!

@@PrettyPurplePolkaDots I enjoyed it and I don't usually read contemporary fiction. I now have Beach Read on my December TBR for comparison.

A couple recommendations. For the dystopian book with a happy ending, I would say that the space between worlds has a happy ending. For number 50, good night Tokyo.

Educated by Tara Westover definitely has stuff about homeschooling. In general a lot of memoirs by people who group in fundamentalist communities could probably count

The Storygraph is going to help me with so many of these! 😄 But I think I'll skip a few (e.g. bad Goodreads rating)

I skipped Popsugar last year because it did seem too specific. I will definitely be adding at least some of these to my plan for the year.

@PrettyPurplePolkaDots agreed! There are a few I'm not sure I'd hit (food truck?) but there are a lot of really interesting ones!

Instead of going for an AI chatbot, I think I'll be going through the "similar reads" feature on Storygraph OR the program my library has where it recommends books based on what I show interest in!

A book that features an unlikely friendship is a prompt I'm looking forward to, I'm going to use Mornings with Rosemary by Libby Page, which was on my TBR for this year but that I never got around to reading. I was dreading reading the Goodreads book rated below 3 stars, but after asking in the Facebook group, someone mentioned the horrible cheesy erotica out there and so Chuck Tingle here I come!
