2:12 is such a great shot. When both turn upwind like choreographed dancers.

I'm new to watching yacht racing, and this is where I am sort of having an issue with the America's Cup/Prada Cup compared to something like SailGP.... it seems like the entire race is won 90 percent of the time at the start, to the point where it's not even worth watching after the second leg since the gap can be so large, where as SailGP even though you can have the best start, there is a lot of back and forth in race standings at times. Is this normal for this event? Is there anything that can be done in the future to make this more compelling race, or am I just on my own?

no youre seeing it correctly. The AC has been drooling over a nascar type racing setup. They now call it a 'track' for chris sakes. This is a Frankenstein race once every 4 yrs... boat speed always wins. Especially now.

@Princeps Remember 1987? NZ was all about tradition, and USA came out with a catamaran.

@Princeps For decades there was a defender series too. Watched my first Ac race then 1977 off Newport. The boundaries are the problem ...Stb tack boats losing right of way half the time. Rules are made because there is so few boats. Imagine if Ineos and Luna Rossa collide in a barging incident and both sink. Then its not good...lol

@@00BillyTorontoBill Boundaries are not the problem otherwise it would be a boring race of tack to the lane line and get through the gate. I got into the AC in Valencia at 2007 and while the prestarts where amazing, the rest of the racing was boring AF.

no doubt Shirley, Ken, Nathan are expert sailors, but they make TERRIBLE announcers - they NEVER explain "why" they make a comment, such as- "they are so vulnerable", "waited too late ... to pull trigger", "greedy at start", "aggressive match racing", "let'em off the hook" "interesting move" - equally poor, they never explain a good strategy vs poor strategy at the start which has been so critical, where one boat is trying to position themself compared to the other boat to gain an advantage. These announcers a full of exciting words, but low on intelligent explanation of "why".
