Reading the book Herbert describes Arrakis more like the Arizona desert rather than the Sahara which we often see in film adaptations. There is various types of flora in set areas.

@@scotibot7450 Re-reading the book now, and it's amazing how many small things in the trailer is actually lifted straight from the text. Even micro-sandwich is a term from the book.
