I like how most running gags have some sort of resolution to them. They are never left undeveloped. The honeydew, Mr. Peanutbutter's signs, and even Randy get some sort of big payoff. He constantly complains about it, but when he actually tries it and opens himself up to it, he realizes that it's not actually so bad. Which is pretty symbolic of Bojacks growth during the show. It also represents his relationship with Mr Peanutbutter and even Tod in a way. It's always there even if it's not wanted, and Bojack doesn't like it but learns to appreciate it by the end of the series.

Honeydew melon alone tastes really amazing but when it mixes with other fruit it starts breaking down kind of like pineapples do mixed with other fruit, I can’t explain it but it tastes like butt when it’s mixed together. So it’s not that much of a stretch to hate the honeydew Mellon with mixed fruits. Princess Caroline (Amy Sedaris) really knocks those tongue twister monologues outta the park. Some of my favorite writing, where running gags are concerned. They are always SO GOOD, and fairly topical. I am impressed by the sheer difficulty/novelty of writing these build-ups. They can't be easy to craft just in a vacuum. Add to that necessary subjects and show topics, and I'm just: ✨️o.O✨️ Ppl talk about Rick & Morty as contemporary brilliance in adult animation. And sure, I like it. It's Fresh and clever. But Bojack was smart, deep, more than a little heavy, and brilliantly crafted.

The commitment to a gag is interesting, because the characters just accept it: PB's signs, the entire population of Hollywoo, maybe other examples. I wonder if there is any parallel to acceptance and resistance in the characters' development.
