EAL and his 115k subscriber youtube channel provides better cinematography of golf courses than the PGA tour, Golf Channel, and essentially every big mainstream golf media company. No doubt. Also in response to the beginning where you talk about the videos making you want to play better, remember that the worse you play and the more shots you take, the more golf we get to watch. So it's really a win-win!

Hey Erik! Your opening line for this vlog struck me. I went out this morning and played 9, didn’t care about the score and laughed more than I have on a course before. I attribute this morning’s fun because of watching your videos and seeing your passion for the game, not your score! And, you do play pretty well! When the majority of your viewers, like me, struggle to make double on a par 3, you look even better. Have confidence that your swing looks nice and that your outlook on the game is wayyyyy nicer for me, and hopefully a lot of your other subscribers.

This is how friends/scratch golfers should play. Not too serious, but enough to keep it golf. Give the tap ins and claps on good shots. This is what it’s all about! Just found your channel on my home page and probably going to watch all the videos on your channel! Btw 9:01 is one of the most beautiful camera shots of golf I’ve ever seen! Cheers!

Mistakes are human. And humanity is what makes golf enjoyable. I think that's why so many people enjoy watching pros have to battle a course like Bethpage: when they make a mistake we would make, we can for that brief moment say "yeah, I feel your pain, man." Of course, the difference between us and them is that they go out and miraculously save the hole, proving that they're also way, way, way better than us as well.

Love the course vlogs! Keep them coming please. Just something i was wondering about, I hope someone can clarify that for me. But when you hit your tee shot ob, you would usually get one penalty and hit another one of the tee. So then if you drop it shouldn’t it be 4th not 3rd? Best, W

Not sure what the local rule is at Bandon, but I know that some courses declare all "OB" as red stakes to keep up with pace of play. Obviously, it's not what tournament play would use. If they didn't set the above rule, then you would use local rule E-5 where you have the option to drop the ball at point of entry and take 2 strokes (1 for penalty, 1 for distance). Either way you wouldn't have to walk back to the tee box and slow down pace of play. And honestly, for a pick-up round of golf, I'm not sure I would really think too hard about it lol.

E S you are correct. Should have re-teed but for pace of play we drop as a 4 on a lost ball like that.
@dcm7034 жыл бұрын
Morgan Reynolds The new rules allow for you to drop in case of OB or lost ball - you do not have to retee. But you are hitting 4, not 3. But he clearly doesn’t care because he is only taking a one stroke penalty for his lost ball drops and not two.

im fairly new to golf but ive been watching your videos for a while, this series is one of my favorites. I was wondering about handicaps, I know yours is around a 5, but you shot a +13 in this vlog? I know handicap accounts for all of your rounds but to me this seems like a typical round for you, and in my mind a 5 handicap should be around a +5 every round? Im just a confused new golfer, please help.
@HumboldtB52Bombers3 жыл бұрын
Your handicap is your potential, not your average. So a 5 handicap should shoot 5 over about 25% of the time (4 out of 20 rounds).

I came to the comments to look for an answer also. I’m pretty new to the game, but my understanding of the rule is that you either hit your 3rd shot from the tee, or hit your 4th shot from the “imaginary crossing line to out of bounds”

mike smith - how do you get a double? tee shot is 1, OB is 2, hits his 3rd by green, 4th is chip close, putt for 5. why would he take 2 shots for going OB?

@@imroadtrippin I think the local rule is actually 2 club lengths into the nearest edge of the fairway no closer to the hole. Also what I wouldve actually done in his place is drop for 2 cause it doesnt actually look like its OB at all he just couldnt find it. If hes certain enough it landed in that deep stuff just use the "gallery" rule and drop for 2

@@FlounderVFW Unfortunately no 'local rule' exists for this to be within the rules at Bandon dunes. Though it is encouraged by the caddies, it is not an official 'Local Rule'. www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/rules-modernization/major-changes/golfs-new-rules-stroke-and-distance.html I have spoken to the Handicap Chair at Bandon and they did confirm there is no local rule in effect. They do encourage it though to speed up play. Just dont post these scores to GHIN.
