The song bopppppss but truthfully, this is the only hard bar and scathing punchline in this entire song as a diss record. It’s a good bop but he’s not saying much and def not good as a scathing diss track that hurts Drake by barring him to death but that A minor bar is genuinely genius… though I thought drake rebuttaled and flipped it perfectly which earns a lot of respect for me as a huge fan of battle rap, it is crucial that you rebuttal your opponent’s hardest hits and he did it masterfully 👏🏽 “Easy-Duz-It (reference for Like That) You mentioning A minor, But niggas gotta B sharp & tell fans “who was it?” You thought you left D flat but D major, I’ll slit your throat with the razor and do Rick Ross like the one flight from Malaysia”

I think the "I see dead people" line also is because in the sixth sense (sorry this is a spoiler to those who haven't seen the movie) the dude the kid is hanging out with ends up being dead the whole time but he isn't aware that he's dead, which could also mean that Drake is already "dead" due to one of the previous diss tracks (the kill shot was probably meet the grahams). This is also saying that any comeback Drake comes out with will be irrelevant because he's already "dead."

At the end of the "Not Like Us" music video, the owl trapped in the cage means that Kendrick has authority over Drake. I also think that this is a symbolizes the poem "Caged Birds" by Maya Angelou because one verse of this poem says, "but a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing." In this case, Drake is the bird who is trapped in the cage, suffering, and can only sing. Kendrick walks away, while the owl stays caged. I know this isn't related to the lyrics, but I wanted to mention it, not only because I saw it on a Reddit post, but also the fact that I read the poem and got my personal take from this scene.

This makes much more sense. Now I'm recognizing all those details I've been missing since this song dropped. This hurts more than cigarette burns.

1:00 I don't think it's the reference to the movie. I think it's because Drake uses "ghost writers"

@D13Nword Drake was Canadian, so "minor" could also be a way to jab how Drake had a much easier upbringing in Canada than the rappers in the US.

Also that "b##ch ain't you tired?" Line could refer to Alibeens dialogue in "The Help" when she confronted Mrs Hillys cruel deeds. Considering when Alibeen went off saying, "You only scare and lie just to get what you want"
@RonnieM909 ай бұрын
I see dead people. That line was a reference to ghostwriters.
