OOPS SOME THINGS TO SAY: 1. Raff has reminded me there is LOADS of sapphic love in Girl Woman Other and that I’m an idiot. 2. I forgot to put the finished covers up when I said I would. 3. #JoMarchShouldHaveBeenALesbian

I was about to comment immediately after you mentioned it 😁 My favourite one is the middle aged woman unexpected WLW romance, AND the casually mentioned polyamorous madness of the 80s 🙃

Jo March can really be read as most queer identifies imo. There's toooonnnsss of support for an interpretation of Jo as trans or nonbinary. A good basis to read her as ace or as a lesbian. Really the possibilities are endless with Jo.

Some recommendations for different genres: Sci fi (the low key ones, no space battles or anything like that): An absolutely remarkable thing Long way to the small angry planet (also polyamorous rep) I belive "this is how you lode the time war" as well, however - haven't read this one Fantasy: The Witcher has a WLW plot, one of the first I've read I think. Priory of the orange tree (I haven't read this one, but it is all over the internet) YA: "You should see me in a crown" is a very cute high school drama. Bit cliche, but lovely nontheless.

I’m inexperienced in sapphic reading…can anyone explain the Little Women bit to me? (Not negating Emma by any means-just genuinely curious). Is it Jo? Lol I feel dumb
@zofiabochenska12402 жыл бұрын
Emma has a video about the author being non-binary, and how she didn't want Jo to marry. I'm not sure if she really suggest Jo is in fact a lesbian, but I can't think of anybody else. Unless Aunt March is unmarried, but I think in the book she's actually widowed?

Word of warning Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe could be a very triggering read, lots of very hateful language, especially regarding race and ableism, and it’s pretty fatphobic as well. Regarding sapphic books I have loved this year: The Dead Go to Seattle by Vivian Faith Prescott, Dead Dead Girls by Nekesa Afia, Written in the Stars/Count Your Lucky Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur, Love and Other Disasters by Anita Kelly, Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers, The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec and This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.
