Loved this, Cole! We should start a support group for guys with a "snare problem." I have 13 so far, two acros, one black beauty, a cast-iron Kep, and a Dunnet brass 2n among em.

I love the sound from 2 of those drums, the George Way, and the Blackrolite. The maple\poplar one sounds EXACTLY like the one and only snare that I ever built, also those woods, with mahogany inner and outer plies. It looks like yours is a 5 1\2 as well. Thanks!

Great collection Cole! I think the Alaskan yellow cedar in particular sounded the most unique and my favorite, also the red cedar and 7x14 maple to match your kit were killer too! Great stories behind so many cool drums, thanks for sharing!

That Blackrolite snare was killer so was the supraphonic.

Man what a great collection! I have a Ludwig Black Galaxy finish Acrolite snare drum also..early 1980's vintage. Also have: Ludwig 5 x 14" Supersensitive 1970's, Rogers 5 x 14" COB Dynasonic early Fullerton era, Tama 6 1/2 x 14" brass shell, Pacific 5 x 14" maple w/maple hoops and tube lugs, Pacific 7 1/2 x 14" Limited Edition maple wood hoops, Pacific 7 x 10" maple 'popcorn' snare, a Pearl 12 x 14" high-tension pipe band marching snare, a couple of Corder 12 x 14" marching snares, and my favorite: Ludwig 3.7 x 14" Venus Carl Palmer Signature model brass shell, signed by Carl Palmer. Plus a couple of old Pearl steel shell snare drums and Kent wood shell 'wall hangers'. Yeah I have 'snare-itis' too.

@@ColeParamore I also have a 5 x 13" acrylic shell snare drum I built myself..bought the shell from somebody on Ebay, the hardware from I forgot where, drilled the shell myself mounted the hardware and it's a kickin' little drum.

Awesome video as always Cole! You are right about one thing, all those snares do sound great. I also have not bought many snares. I have three and the only one I paid for was the stock one that came with my Sonor AQ2. I really have enjoyed your videos so thank you for making them. I hope you learn how to mix drums at the same level as you do someday soon.

Thanks so much for the kind words Drew! Love those AQ2s.

@@ColeParamore they are a great sound for a mid price. They tune up with little effort and I'm pretty sure it's the drums that make it easy but I've been tuning drums for 12 years so that can help

I recently reduced my snare collection to 4 main snares: Ludwig BB 14x5, Ludwig Acro 14x5, Sonor Greb Beech, and a '58 Super Krupa Radio King 14x5.5. Occasionally I'll use my Pearl 14x6.5 maple free floater but those 4 are perfect for everything I'm doing and honestly, the Greb prob gets used 70% of the time

I got caught in the snare craze. I use my black beauty 90% of the time in the studio. Sold all but 3 snares. No reason for all of them. They don't sound that different. Also with modern music most will be sampled anyway. Rather have many cymbal choices. Those you can't tune. Lol
