I always loved when the good guys disguised themselves as the bad guys. Han and Luke wearing Stormtrooper outfits was my favorite part of the original movie back as a child. I would have loved a stormtrooper Luke as a kid. The vintage collection finally gave me the version I always dreamed of. I gotta give him my number one spot.

Great reviews! Love the countdown. The Luke in his original X Wing is probably my most appreciated head sculpt- it just looks so amazing with detail. I’m hoping they can make a few tweaks to the Hoth figure as well.

Crait Luke is one of my favorites. That scene in particular when Luke tricks Kylo was one of my favorite scenes in all the films made. I was blown away by it for we had never seen a living jedi do that. Also side note should of kept the original jabbas palace song in when they did the enhanced versions. It was jazzy, funky and straight up cool song

I think you got this one spot on! Really did agree with most of your placements! I would have just flipped 1 and 2, just because I have a special place in my heart for Jedi Luke! Return of the Jedi was the first one I seen in the movie theater back when it first came out. So that black outfit with the green saber looks awesome! But great job as usual!

Excellent video as always. I was half expecting Jedi Knight Luke to take the top spot, but my #1 is the same as yours! It's a stunning cardback and great figure, and it got my vote for best cardback in the poll. It very well may have been my choice for best figure if I had it. Not sure what's taking so long with an updated farmboy Luke... We need him. Cheers.

Nice list. I actually have the X-wing Pilot VC158 as my number one. I love the cardback and the figure has a good sculpt and articulation. I wish the Yavin Ceremony Luke was better. He's the one I would use in the absence of a utilitarian Luke for mission dioramas pre-Return of the Jedi if he were better. Definitely need a ground-up redesign for Farm Boy Luke as well.

I always have to adjust my thinking to these videos since you put so much weight on the cardback. And I don't remember what the cardbacks look like since they usually last less than 10 seconds in my house before they're torn open and tossed. :D

Great list! For what it's worth, I agree 100%.The only one that i would have different is the ROTJ Luke, he's definitely my favourite (if we count cardback and figure). But lucky us that it's a tough choice :) They're both great!

I really like this video format BB. Thanks for this one! I respect your choices and I suspected what your NO1 would be. Personally my list would be completely different to yours. I don’t put the same emphasis on the cardbacks for one. These are less than 10% of the production cost of the work needed to deliver these super-articulated figures of which I’m much more interested. BTW I appreciate the purely carded collectors - it just seems a shame that all the clever articulation can’t be appreciated by them and instead becomes something that just compromises the appearance of a carded figure. Just my thoughts anyway 👍🏼

I personally wouldn't rank a lot of the figures off of the cardbacks, because that's not really part of the figures themselves, just the packaging they come in. Other than that, I really enjoyed watching this.

Interesting list, Tim. The only one i really disagree with is the Death Star escape Luke. I absolutely love the cardback and the figure is actually pretty decent. The legs are probably the biggest problem with it as they seem a bit too short, but the upper Torso and headsculpt are really nice IMO. My top 3 would probably be the recent VC Luke Jedi Knight, Luke Stormtrooper and Luke X-Wing Pilot.

My personal top three vintage-style-cardback Luke figures: 1.) Jedi Knight Luke (ROTJ) 2.) X-Wing Pilot Luke (A New Hope) 3.) Battle of Crait Luke (TLJ) Unfortunately, my number three (Crait Luke) was poorly distributed here in the USA. I recently broke down and paid $100 for him on the dealer/scalper market because I assume Hasbro is not likely to reissue him anytime soon - - if ever at all - - considering how universally loathed The Last Jedi film remains in the opinion of the majority of Star Wars fans. Of course, Tatooine/Farmboy Luke has the most iconic Star Wars cardback photo of all of them (George Lucas himself has stated that the scene of Luke gazing at the setting binary suns is his favorite in the entire saga). Hopefully, when Hasbro eventually gets around to upgrading that figure, they will go all out and include among his accessories a soft-goods poncho, a hat with goggles, a long rifle and binoculars.

@@BossksBounty You mean just about everyone’s world who does collect cardboard backs with pictures on them. Trading cards would make sense considering they’re made specifically like that. These are made to be opened. So yes a plain brown box wouldn’t be bad at all. Itd help focus on just the figure which is what you’re paying for

Seems more like you're rating your favorite "card backs", as opposed to the actual figures, heh. Going by figures alone, Dagobah landing Luke would be very low on the list for me. Those overly long arms, weird mid forearm joints, and garish neon orange plastic for the flight suit. Definitely not a contender for the #1 spot.

For me, the best figure/cardback combo is the Jedi Knight, and the other two from that 3-pack are right behind. When Hasbro updated those 3 figures they really took a great leap forward. As for worst, it's not even close - Crait Luke. I have the figure and it is atrocious. The headsculpt looks worse than the POTF2 figures, and the paint is awful. The cardback is also uninspiring and holds zero nostalgia.

I really dislike the recently-updated Bespin Luke figure. The "Y"-shaped childbearing hips are freakish on a slender male character, and the new headsculpt with photo-real-tech facial features gives this figure a stronger resemblance to a young Alex Jones than to actor Mark Hamill. The only parts Hasbro got right in this instance were the more-movie-accurate color of the fatigues and the quasi-translucent lightsaber blade.
